I see that John Buttigieg has retired due to 'a chronic knee injury...the lack of cartilage in his right knee has meant that the joint is operating with bone on bone creating constant swelling'. 
Tough luck for the 26-year old powerhouse prop. Who would ever forget his try in the 2001 State of Origin? Great stuff. A fine example to football players of all sizes, not just the photogenic superstars we seem to be creating at the rate of one a year.
