For anyone interested in popping along to a local game as we head into the business end of the season !

Thinking I'll pop into Emerson Park (The Grange) for either Valleys v Normanby ( Sat 1st Aug 3pm) or to be nostalgic Valleys v Wests (Sat 15/8 3pm).

Brothers v Valleys in BSDRL Premier Grade as game before the Normanby match. ( Would prefer it to be a 'Nostalgic' double header with Wests game :()

* Brothers home game at Stafford (Gibson Park) on 8th Aug 3pm v Sandgate Brighton GATERS.

Haven't made it to game in these grades yet ....after promising i would :p

What about this weekend?

Im planning on going to the Wynnum v Ipswich game on Saturday 18th July, so will most likely be there for the Valleys game beforehand.

I saw Normanby as the curtain raiser for the Easts Instrust game this weekend just gone.

Last round of fixtures completed on the weekend.

It was good to see the Royal Blue running around at Langlands Park yesterday and although the Diehards have had a tough season, they at least gave Carina a hiding to finish the year off on a high.

Semi finals fixtures for next weekend

Qualifying: WM Redland City v Ipswich, 11.15am Sunday, BMD Kougari Oval
Elimination 1: Easts v West Brisbane Panthers, 6pm Saturday, TapOut Energy Stadium
Elimination 2: Redcliffe v Gaters, 4pm Saturday, TapOut Energy Stadium

It's pretty amateurish to not have settled on a venue and match time 10 days out from the Grand Final.

Wynnum led 22-6 in the first BRL semi tonight but Easts fought back, eventually scoring two tries in the last five minutes to draw level 28-all on the hooter.

The first five minutes of extra time produced no points so it went to an unlimited second half of extra time. Wynnum kicked off and on the second tackle, Easts blew up about no penalty being given for holding down by Wynnum in the tackle. The referee immediately awarded a penalty to Wynnum for the backchat and Bristow landed the penalty to take the Gulls into next week's Grand Final.

Think I have seen it all now.

I imagine the Easts players, staff and supporters saw the error in their ways, copped it on the chin without a grumble and congratulated the ref for his brave decision.

That sounds like an almost unbelievable penalty....unless the Tigers players were going off their heads at the ref. Unfortunate way to end a game .......and season for some.

The irony was that in the first half of the extra time, as usual the referee looked likely to only give a penalty if someone pulled a gun.

Incidents that had been a penalty ten minutes earlier were allowed to happen. The Easts outburst didn't seem over the top, some referees just have thin skins.

Anyway, what goes around, comes around.

Ipswich got off to a slow start but eventually proved to be far too strong for the Gaters in the end winning 44-16.

So the grand final will be Ipswich v Wynnum Manly Redland City at Langlands Park 4pm next Saturday.

Norths put Redcliffe out of the Colts with a 24-18 win today.

Norths now play Burleigh in the Preliminary next week for the right to play Wynnum Manly in the Grand Final in a fortnight. Wynnum defeated the previously unbeaten Burleigh 28-26 at Pizzey park yesterday in the Major Semi.

Same score that Wynnum won by in BRL to make that Grand Final.

Ipswich 26 d Wynnum Manly RC 16 in the BRL grand final today at Langlands Park. Wynnum led 14-12 at half time in a pretty even first half but the Jets made all the winning moves in the second half.

Wynnum's completion rate in the second half must have been disgraceful. Ipswich did well throwing the ball around in a strong breeze and having very few handling mistakes.

It was a shame because the first half was enthralling between two evenly matched sides.
