Cleary appreciation thread

Seriously...it took coach Cleary 5 days in charge to realise Naiqama isn't a centres asshole and swap Kev for Idris into the wings pushing Suli into the centres.

Secondly the new up and in your face attitude in defense. I haven't seen WT urgency in defence like last night since probably last year when we beat the exact same team at leicharddt

What wonders a veteran nrl coach can do for our team

Now let's hope of more consistent performances like that (apart from the shit ton of errors in the 2nd half)

And we'll win a lot of games

Everything that changed showed me how bad a coach Taylor really was. It's going to take some time to really judge him.

I also think that our squad is pretty good. We need some dominant forwards because we don't have anyone that can really make an impact however our squad isn't bad.

I honestly have no idea why Taylor was kept this year but at least he was sacked.

Thank f**king goodness the dickhead Taylor got the arse so early in the season.

Appointing the very impressive Ivan has allowed us to restore some dignity on & off the park.Weve rapidly gone from the certainty of another long & disappointing season to one full of hope & promise.

Coaches never making selection changes and dropping poor performing players have been a constant with Wests Tigers coaches going back to Sheens...

Potter would pick a clearly uninterested Braith Anasta each week... He was the only back rower I have seen that went entire games without a hit up...

JT picked Rankin each week last year...

But probably most baffling is the constant selection in the centres these past 2 years of Naqaima...

His defensive errors would let in tries every week and the opposition would deliberately target him... We would see it each game and then still read his name the following Tuesday in the centres...

Looks like Ivan might be different

It was deadset doing my head in seeing the defense challenged gump named as centre every Tuesday evening. Well thankfully there was an upside in the end coz the abundance of tries the imbecile leaked contributed to Taylor's sacking & the appointment of an impressive all-rounder of a coach in Ivan.

Opposition coaches must've been doing cartwheels b4 playing us knowing that the wanka & grace jones defended near each other. How easy is it to plan ur attack when playing against us.We were constantly handicapped with these 2 liabilities particularly as they played on the same side of the field. How the f**k weren't the alarm bells ringing loud & clear for Taylor to make obvious changes. Then again this is the same imbecile who moved Lovett to the centres v Penrith a few yrs ago @ LO & left the poor bastard there even though he was constantly left for dead every time Penrith ran there attack at him.

Good f**king riddance to Taylor & an exhuberant welcome to Ivan.We r entering an era where we will no longer b easybeats & one where the monkeys r no longer running the zoo coz we finally have an elite coach & man manager with a high rugby league IQ running the show !

Regarding our defence under JT or lack there of,he should of gone to Specsavers...! it has taken Ivan one game to sort out that RHS defence something JT failed to do in 2 years, speaks volumes of the ability between the two.

this was my beef as well..And yes,it was in the Sheens era as well.
It really pisses me off when we got or get thrashed and same old squad got picked again following week..
If you dont perform now ,your out..
We wasted 2 years with Taylor and 2 years with Potter....

I'm not thinking it's sorted yet. Nofo jammed in again last night and left space. We just had more cattle coming up and in to stop the attack.

It was a massive improvement though. I just want to see us be consistently good.

Ivan had just three sessions with them......

I cant sing his praises enough.

Imagine by the end of the season, and an off season.

Ivan is a specialist at taking shit teams and turning them around quickly.

Best decision ever made by this club on or off the field.

It's been a while since we had a coach who came out and did something to improve the team. Clearly did that last night. He just changed the tactics a little and we performed.

When Taylor was playing Taylor ball he did the same thing in reverse.

The difference between the two of them is huge.

The other thing is the confidence in this forum around Cleary.

I think virtually everyone who is a regular poster is happy with Cleary and ws happy with Cleary before we even played this week.

Let's just hope we don't get a typical tigers performance this week and play parra back into form. We need to treat parra like we treat Melbourne and Cowboys.

I've been thinking the same as I expect r the majority of our fans as it's what we frequently do so well playing struggling teams back into form.

Hopefully we can also stop frank Pritchard from going to town on us as he normally does !

It will very interesting to c whether the wanka puts in for us or indirectly assists the team he just signed with for '18 !!

Pritchard is out luckily for us as he only plays 1-2 blinders a year and it's against us

I'm loving Cleary and am so optimistic for the future now. As they say, a week is a long time in football.

I also don't think we'll be seeing the likes of Joel Edwards getting many more games this year.

The thing the big two of the big four should consider is that Cleary will quite likely be here for the best part of a decade and if that's the case it's hard to imagine that he wont succeed with his vision for the club*...his ability...indicators of transformation and the club's need for stability should ensure that. On the other hand it's hard to see Des being at the dogs beyond his current 2 year extension so the boys will most likely be playing under a different coach halfway through their contract if they go there (as is being reported)...if not sooner.
There is one upside to us losing them to the dogs though....the chooks will have lost Teddy as well

* optimism turned up to max
