Not signings as such but Hardaker won't be back at Penrith in 2017 and Will Smith has been released, judging by these...

"Meanwhile, the club has confirmed the departure of eight players in the off-season.

On the way out are Blake Green (Manly), Marika Koroibete (Super Rugby), Ben Hampton (North Queensland) and Ryan Morgan (St Helens).

Fringe first graders Richie Kennar, Tony Tumusa, Francis Tualau and Matt White have also departed to pursue opportunities elsewhere."

The Panthers are doing a great job of signing their key players to long term deals.

I'm surprised so many of them aren't waiting to see what the cap increases are.

Gus is a very persuasive man.

Sea Eagles snare rising star

By Adam Lucius
Published on Oct. 10, 2016

Manly’s recruitment drive has continued, with the Sea Eagles signing promising Newcastle schoolboy Blake Andrews.

Andrews is an edge backrower or centre, standing at 194cm and weighing in at 94kg.

His bio states his strengths as defence and the ability to bust tackles.

Andrews has been part of the Newcastle junior program for three years but has been hampered by injury.

Manly recruitment manager Scott Fulton revealed Andrews had been in the Sea Eagles’ sights for quite a while.

"I remember Blake from over the years and a couple of people within the club had a high opinion of him, so we did some additional research and chased him,” Fulton explained.

“Blake has had a mixed time of it - he seems to make a lot of the rep teams but also had the odd untimely injury that kept him out of the upper echelon.

“We are quietly confident he will come straight into our squad and be a strong contributor from the beginning."

Andrews added: "I'm looking forward to it. The Sea Eagles have really made me feel welcome and are going to play a proactive role both on and off the field over the next two years.

“I'm under no illusion. Hard work is the main ingredient now and I have a big pre-season coming up. I will aim to move down after my HSC and start early November with the squad."

Nailed it. The guy just has a way with footy players. A lot of the work he has been doing has been long term stuff which is only starting to pay off now but one thing that was immediately noticeable was how much better our recruitment and retention was. Pretty much everyone re-signs before November now, I think Mansour a couple years ago was the last player who didn't.
