How to Stop Dragons

* Dragons fall into pattern of one out hit ups - send one or two defenders quickly up to meet the runner they are slow to get up and you can force errors by being in their face when they are trying to catch the ball.

* Dragons Halves run side ways - Normally the dragons have no against the grain runners or back down the centre runners - So push up on the halves the they start running sideways. This allows sliding defence to work really well.

* Dragons compress in defense - space on the flanks - one or two hitups in the centre and compresses the defence and then go wide - the centre and halves do go up with the forwards and allows team to draw and pass and go around the backs. This is why the backs are always our numbered.

* Poor kicking game - The dragns have the worst kicking games in the NRL - The current halves can no kick when pressured and they also need long setup times. This is why they often kick dead or out on the full. Also they down really have dedicated on side runners to put pressure on the catchers.

* Dragons always setting up for next play - Once a dragons runner hots the line everyone starts getting ready for the next play, rather than looking at the guy with the ball and listening to the orgainser.

* Halves are no organising and screaming out instructions to the others. - Captain is too quiet.

* Captain does not get tin the face of the referee - makes Dragons easy to penalise.

* Dragons are one of the few teams that gets back 10 in defense and waits for the ball to be played .

* When watching the dragons train, they always practice the overlap - Centres need to turn back inside at speed. This will help stop the sliding defence and create room for wingers and Dugan on the edges.

What I Like

* McInnes - Best "Mc" at the club - great buy - this guy will get better and will start running more from dummy half. Also, I aim expecting to see him start following the ball runners and become the first link for the second phase plays.

* Forwards have stepped up and are now competitive.

* Need to move MCrone to Utility (Can play halves/hooker/) Mann to 5/8 and Widdop to 7. If Widdop can't play 7 then drop him to reggies. Mann will add some creativity in the halves and stop the defence giving us the advantage at the point of contact - both in the centre and out wide.

* We have a big winger that can jump can we please create opportunities to contect the ball in the air? Opposition will make mistakes or will can win the ball in the air and score tries.

* Everyone expects us to lose - Our guys don't seem to have read that script and have bonded and want to win.

* Potential Coaches for next year will like the potential in the team and the rising talent. I Don't agree that the current available coaches are tat interested in going to the Tigers with the players holding that much power.

* The team is winning because of the talent and effort and in spit of the boilerplate game plan.

Sorry about the long post.
