You are 100% correct and the wagons are circling him from other clubs. If the dragons don't do anything as I have been saying all along he will be gone and it will be the dragons loss.

The concern from the powers that be must be about his size. How else could it be explained that he hasn't even been given a go in NSW Cup. That pre-conception about him not being ready or big enough is astonishing.

Son of Witt here. Pleased to post. They targeted Lafai all day. His reading is poor. Rushes in all the time. Better off being groomed as a forward. They ran at Benji all day and pushed us back. He was brave but then resorted to rushing up as well. Widdop is a good cover defender but not as good in the line. So we had them running at three backs who were brittle and resorted to running up staggering our line. Rein might be poor in areas but Havili is slow and does not get involved. His passing game is terrible. Not a first grader even if he s a cut above the Cutters. As for our coach....don't start me! Against the Dogs u have to match their substitutes. Leave it to Des to determine your changes. Don't put Marketo on when Kasiano and Williams enter the fray. Marketo I feel sorry for. Gives a 100% but asked to be a rampaging edge forward with a half back's body. Crazy.

They won't know until they give him a go.

The problem is with McGregor, Price and Bennett is they always go for the safe (old, experienced) option and seem to be against promoting youth unless there's no other option (yes, there are a few exceptions) It seems that whenever there is a hole left from a starting player, they use some cheap tape to cover the hole... hence the influx of fringe 1st graders - I understand the part about building depth, but I'd hate to have another repeat of Jack Bird at another club.

Another example is Marketo always getting the nod over Host, albeit Marketo had a few good games.

I'd love to see Dufty get a run in FG. If they're worried about his size, just go back and watch Quinlan at FB...he always gave up 10-20m every kick return to look for the pass, he didn't look like he wanted to run the ball.

If Dufty was brought in, I would drop KFFL and move Nightingale back to the wing and Mann keeps his spot.

Great to read your post young Witt your dad would be proud.

Nailed it on the head especially re the interchange usage.

If fullback is a 'tonne of D' then the rest of our team aren't doing their job.
I take your point, but what i mean is the collisions are huge, not just conventional D, although there are plenty of 1on1 tackles that need to be made, its more cleaning up loose balls, taking high bombs, putting your body on the line for a couple of 110kg apes to pound you into the dirt, and ofcourse the big collisions running the ball back too, I mean Dugan takes it to extremes.. but its not a long career for a midget fullback to go looking for collisions, this is the same story with Quinlan, you have to conceed a few metres there and hope to make it back in spades with their support play and speed.

Losing Bird was 10x worse than losing Dufty would be.. our only hope is Dufty could be Milford-like, but honestly they are slim odds, Bird was a sure thing from the minute he hit 20's.

What i see happening, assuming Duges can stay fit:

o Left Wing = Mann
o Fullback = Duges
o Right Wing = Nightingale

TBH I think KFFL is a better specialist left winger than Mann, but Mann is making a decent fist of it (unlike PM/Aitken did early season), and there is a longer term pay-off, because Mann is our only & hence next in line left centre, plus there is scope there for fullback or 5/8 down the line too, he has far more growth in him than KFFL.

Dufty is ready to play first grade ,as we need to blood him and others as we have no chance of being premiers this year .oh and didn't they say Thurston was to small ,as for Laurier Daley ,he's influenced by bob Fulton who gets walker to play soo so he would sign with manly, get rid of Daley and Fulton,

Thurston wasnt a fullback for starters.. hes also the next immortal.

NSW Cup is the place for Dufty if we really want to shift him out of a 20's side that is on the improve.. if you thought Mann copped it hard for making a few errors at fullback, wait to see what a 90kg 20yr old total rookie dishes up in 1st grade against the worlds best players.. he will take much patience.. and dragons fans have very little.

Fair call, that's basically what they did with Quinlan, promote him to NSW cup, and when called up he did quite well to cope with FG (was roughed up a bit but survived with no major dramas). Aitken, on the other hand only spent 2 wks at the Cutters and he survived the initial challenges.

Reading all your posts Rev you don't sound like a Dufty fan.... But how will anyone know what he is capable of without being given a fair chance. I did read that he has been a St George junior since making the first HPU squad as a 13 year old. I think he deserves his shot at the very least.

Good post Rev.
Nice to see the youngsters get a run but the minute they fail, the forum will have him shipped to Siberia. Too risky for the kids confidence.

I love the kids energy, I smile every time he has the ball.. the only player in the U20's that does sadly.. but im also a realist, if hes going to come through its in NSW Cup in 2017 (maybe a few games in 2016 if injury presents), but there is no point throwing him to first grade unprepared, hes going to have to come thru the grades on his own merit, hes not big or dominant enough to leapfrog NSW Cup, and while hes doing this he will get bigger and stronger at the same time... this isnt the player to rush (imo).

The Cutters just signed a "replacement" fullback from the Panthers NSW Cup squad for the remainder of this year, so I can't see Dufty getting a start this year, not that I think he would have anyway given the U20's are battling to stay entrenched in the 8, and he's an integral part of their current winning streak.

Give Dufty the rest of the year off playing, get him to spend his weekends with the Johns brothers(not partying & socialising)learning all about playing in the halves!Lets turn him back into a halfback & unleash him on the NRL in 2017!!!!!

The recruitment and coaching staff at dragons have no idea. Why not give the Dufty a chance in cutters and see if he can handle it. Its not as if he has not been playing well in 20's - over 40 tries in two and half seasons , NSW U18 rep etc. But what the hell instead lets get another reggie player from somewhere else and not worry about the 7 years investment since HPU we have put into this kid. As I have said before I hear the wagons are circling and it wont be long and he will be gone.
