blocker was exceptionally quick for a prop, that already proves how much you saw of him, he was a pioneer of offloads and knew how to fire up his team mates, natural born leader, something fifita is not and never will be speaking of lazy bastards who cut corners.

Good post , except the pioneer of offloads. He was a great exponent of it but not a pioneer.
Good old style footballer that worked hard. Some of the modern day players that get a rest are an embarrassment to the game compared to the good players of Roach's era and before.

i said "a pioneer" as in one of the pioneers, not the only one.

in his era, we had obviously artie well ahead of everyone else and there was craig salvotori and gavin miller with blocker.

As dumb as Fifita is , he pales in comparison to Blocker on the field.

Breaks more tackles with his fend ( by a couple of country miles)
Scores way way more try's
Club level Roach 206 games= 13 try's
Club level Fifita 145 games = 32 try's
He has played for state and country ....and has scored the winning try in a grand final.
Done it all really.

This is why debates across generations are impossible. Would Fifita still be the same if he had come through in the 80's with a 5m rule and having to work a job as well as play football?

Would Roach not be different if he was a full time pro in the 10m era where all players have the best of sports technology to help them prepare, recover and improve?

And the Grand Final argument is also irrelevant. If there were interchanges in the 80's do you really think he's not on the field for the last 15-20:minutes? Likewise is Fifita playing 80 minutes in the 80's era or is he the impact bench player?

Like I said, it's an impossible debate.

um because this debate isn't about blocker vs todd? i've cited a bunch of nsw players because it's easier to benchmark blocker and fifita within the same rep honours against their peers.

and hey youtube higlight videos amazing, we'd have 100 players playing gridiron if they all went off youtube highlights.
