Help this young bloke from Serbia further his career in England.

Serbia has to be one of the great success stories of international RL in the modern era. They now just need to get their best players to the pro ranks, which I understand has been difficult due to visa restrictions (Serbia is not in the EU).

Also a reason why things like a World Nines is crucial. Serbia could get their best handful of players on show that way and focus on nines to improve their chances.

What is the ' Global Rugby League Academy program' ?

Anyone got anything on this? Sounds interesting

Edit: Ok I read a bit further and he explains more lol. But who runs it? Is it new? What countries are being targetted, if any?

Seems ambitious, £6000, but let's hope he can pull it off. He seems to have a had a few donours already which is great to see. 17 is still a good age to develop and learn good habits as a Rugby League player, so it would be great for him and Serbia in general if he could make it over there.

I wonder if the powers that be should be looking at setting up some sort of academy in Serbia itself, given the low cost of living there. Then young hopefuls from all over eastern Europe could go there.

Hi Luke and welcome to the forum. I've tried to use the link in your post but it doesn't appear to be working.

It's: global rugby league academy (dot) com - no spaces of course.

That's the correct site! Don't know what happened to my last link! The website is a work in progress and we tend to get word out via Facebook & Instagram more so. Those involved in GRLA have little doubt that there are capable rugby league players out there who just need to be given chances. This will also strengthen the international sides in these emerging nations and hopefully reduce the over reliance on heritage players.

The Instagram account for GRLA is also global rugby league academy (without spaces)!

Hi all! Firstly, I hope you all had a fantastic Xmas! Secondly, thanks to the Xmas goodwill of many people Vladimir has managed to reach just over 10% of his target (£637 to be exact) in only 6 days! This is remarkable and we are excited by the progress of Vladimir's cause! It is an ongoing campaign and will continue to run up until the beginning of September 2017 so please continue to share & donate if you can!

Perhaps off the back of Vladimir's campaign, another player of Red Star Belgrade & Serbia U18s/21s - Rajko Trifunovic - is looking to join GRLA. His video footage is here:

Just a quick update on the current situation involving Vladimir & Rajko - last week GRLA met with representatives from Queensbury ARLFC, a Bradford-based team who have a winter team in the Pennine League & a summer team in the Yorkshire Men's League. They have agreed to accommodate both the young Serbian players in September! They will also provide a playing experience for a 3rd player we are hoping to get from Easterhouse Panthers, Scotland! Please, please continue to help with Vladimir's GoFund cause on the link below to help us make this a reality:

Thanks again guys!

Hi guys! Just a quick update on Vladimir's cause and general activity involving the Global Rugby League Academy. We are up to £760 on his GoFund campaign which will support his efforts to get to the UK and play/study for 12 months. This is a fantastic effort given that we are still in the first month of the campaign and it will be ongoing to August! Hopefully we can reach the £1000 landmark target very soon and push on from there! Getting Vladimir, and then hopefully Rajko, to the UK will be a massive shot in the arm for the Serbian game; particularly as they are still young and have time to progress in the sport!

In other news, GRLA's current Scottish cohort are doing fantastically well! Archie Andrade (17 years old & pictured below), hailing form the Aberdeen Warriors club, is currently on a 12 week trial with the Leeds Rhinos Academy. This will be an outstanding experience for him in his development. Furthermore, he has been selected for the Scotland Students 2017 Universities World Cup squad who will play in Australia this summer! This is massive for Archie, particularly as he is not yet at university and is still playing in the college competition for Halifax Elite Rugby Academy (where he also studies a Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Sport)!

Another 2 of GRLA's Scottish players will also be in Challenge Cup action this weekend for Aberdeen Warriors against Pilkington Recs of the National Conference Premier. Jack Stevenson (18 years old) and Jordan Gray (16 years old) both return home from Yorkshire to contribute to the Warriors efforts to progress in the competition! Jack has also attended Halifax Elite Rugby Academy and played locally for King Cross Park ARLFC whilst on the GRLA programme, whilst Jordan has attended Calderdale College and played for KXP. Both are Scottish U19 internationals.

An update on both Vladimir's GoFund cause to get over to England for 12 months and also recent Global Rugby League Academy activity! We currently stand at £975 raised - £25 off our first landmark target of £1K! Your ongoing support is vital, even if it is sharing this cause (the link is below). In the meantime Vladimir himself is raising his own funds.

Regarding GRLA activity, our Aberdeen Warriors origin trio all continue to play both college and amateur rugby league on a weekly basis here in Yorkshire. Archie Andrade (17 years old) is approaching the end of a 12 week trial period with Leeds Rhinos U19 Academy and will soon find out his fate. He has played the first two games of their season - a friendly against City of Hull Academy (in which he scored the winning try) and the first league fixture against St Helens. We are really pleased of his progress!

Our other 2 Aberdeen Warriors origin players - Jack Stevenson (18 years old) & Jordan Gray (17 years old) - have also been progressing nicely on recent training opportunities and experiences which we will announce in due course! If you wish to keep updated on everything GRLA then follow the link below:
