hahaha
oh what utter nonsense
they're held at venues with a host of factors contributing , the most economically sensible venue first off the rank .. that can be, but not always be determined by the quality of the facilities including the overall experience a venue provides . Accor is a dog & the local fans in all sports agree it is , but will endure it for marquee events .
That doesn't make it world class
The MCG is held with enormous regard & esteem far & wide & it doesn't seem to matter if its a rectangle sport played on it or not ..rightly or not it is beloved & has a reputation accor could only dream of.
It is world class , like Wembley is
Accor world class .. phhhhtttt yea right.
Where was the last union World Cup final held I. Australia ?

the mcg was around then too and they didn’t pick it then

if they wanna put in in Optus great less union recovers in Sydney the better

Accor ranks very low in Quality RL stadiums.

But we are talking world events. An International Soccer team played there just the other week.

While ever Accor is used for such events it is world class
??? World Class means top class, among the best in the world, the top category. Accor was barely world class in 1999.

Mcg isn’t world class either. So they just leaves Perth

they would have to knock down the mcg and start again to be world class

So what out of those factors have changed then?

MCG is great for the right event. Perfect to host the T20 WC final, perfect for concerts. For rectangle sports not so.

Funny you mention Wembley. How many RU games have been there? It is English Soccer's home ground.

Sporting bodies struggling for relevance like RA can't afford to make idle threats , they're hardly going to make a statement like they have .. have nothing happen , then go

ah well
we tried ...

Of course.

Lords is the premier Cricket venue too.

All have their own advantages.

The best stadium down here to watch RL, RU or soccer is Suncorp. SFS will likely take over when It is built

Both are fine for 80% of games.

Not so in this case so Accor it is

It's likely which ever city hosts the RWC Final will also host both semi finals. Can't see that happening anywhere but Sydney.

That is it.

The overall package is Sydney. The Sydney haters won't like it but 45k seater and 2 x 30k seater all brand new.

Rent penthouses on the harbour for the big wigs in between. Save on the airfares while using 3 brand new stadiums... covers for the inferior Final venue

ah no... accor haters ,
its a turd in its present state that can't be polished & won't be used for the RWC final unless its improved .. considerably.

interesting because the Womens football world cup will be using Accor for the final but no games at MCG or Optus because they are proper ovals.

This is why AFL is so against a Football world cup being played in Australia. The only way Melbourne or Perth would get any big games was if they had massive upgrades to their rectangular stadiums.
