Just doing some sums as to our spending in new and upgraded contracts compared with savings from players moving on
    SPENDING: Widdup +300 Vaughan +250 Lafai +100 Hunt +900 Graham +550 Mann +150 Latimer +200 JDB +100 Lomax +100
    Total approx 2.6mill new.
    SAVING: Dugan 700 Packer 500 Mccrone 200 Matthews 200 Kalifa 150 Glymin 150 Havili 200 Hutchinson 150 Marketo 200 Milne 200 Total Saved 2.65 mill.
Any new signings would need to come from Joel ($500000?) and Nene (350000?) finding greener pastures.
Is my balance sheet right or is it just one hell of a long off season.

Seems about right. Most of our budget is done in this fashion.

Have you included the increase in the cap in what is available?

We have at least two spots still available and if Thompson and MacDonald go then there would be four spots that are needed to be filled.

I'll probably be proved wrong, Saints do that to you when you try to be logical, but it seems like there could be a couple of targets while still keeping some wriggle room available if a bargain or two pops up later in the year.

I think you'd find Packer wasn't anywhere near that, rather closer to 150k as he was signed out of jail

Speculating on the salaries of players is a pointless exercise in the age of TPAs. On paper when compared to other teams, we should have plenty in the kitty. But I somehow doubt that is the case and in any case, we would likely have to pay extra to get players to want to come and play under McGregor.

There’s a song by Alan Jackson(great country & western singer)called ‘Its 5o’clock somewhere’, maybe that’s what we should live by!!

The glass should be transparent, in that way we would not have to make wild guesses. However, you did leave out the 2m upgrade to the cap and the extra dollars to pay for the increase of our squad from 26 to 30. My guess is that we are about 400k in front right now and if Thompson goes, we will be close to 1m in front. Enough to pay for Womsley and a winger or Cronk and a Winger.

Widdop resigned (reportedly) for $800k (650k on the books, 150k TPA) thats an increse of $50k.
Hunts "on the books" figure (reportedly) is $750k
Mann was not given a $150k upgrade, he was originally on $220k and resigned for $250k (reportedly).
    Latimore was signed on $150k.
Dugan saves us $750k, Packer was on $330k not $500k.
Rest are pretty close to the mark.
Im not saying i know the correct figure, these numbers are what iv been able to find "reported" in the media and also approximates from player manager mates of mine. Again, they are only approximates.
Also, its been reported that Grahams contract alongside hunts contract have TPAs in them, as did Widdops upgrade.
How much exactly is anyones guess, but dont be fooled into believing that we dont have backers for TPAs.
By all accounts we are not up there with the Dogs and Roosters when it comes to TPAs, but we can, and do, certainly offer them.

If we as a club offer them, they are then part of the salary cap,

Thats actually incorrect. We can "arrange" TPAs that the players manager ends up taking care of.
That is not part of the cap.
