Pay based on performance and success...

How is this concerning?? He looks like he has make the comp a profit before it has even begun.

Or do we like it when the IRLF is broke?
My concern us he was only concerned about making as much money as possible for himself. No offence to Darwin or Cairns but their venues aren't up to scratch.Blind Freddy can see Nth QLD doesn't need 6 pool matches. All he cared about was turning a profit to line his own pocket.

Rubbish....the tournament is about making as much money as it can to fund international development. What it makes it puts back into the game.
Games go to cities who are willing to pay...simple as that.

THE draw for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup has been officially released with Perth’s nib Stadium to host a double-header on November 12.

Game one of the double-header will consist of two European qualifiers, followed by the Wayne Bennett-coached England taking on rivals France.

NRL WA CEO John Sackson said it was fantastic news for league fans in the west.

“It’s a reflection of the NRL’s ongoing investment in the WA market,” Sackson told PerthNow.

“We’ve got the historic Australia versus New Zealand Test later this year (on October 15), which is the first ever international played in Perth, then Game 2 of the State of Origin in 2019.

“It’s a really exciting time for the sport in WA.”

“In planning this Tournament, the Organising Committee made a deliberate decision to take the Rugby League World Cup to more fans than any World Cup has done before. With the support of the Western Australia Government, we will give fans in Perth the opportunity to attend the World Cup and experience what will be a festival of Rugby League,” Rugby League World Cup 2017 CEO Michael Brown said.

Rugby league powerhouses England will play one of their 2017 World Cup pool matches at nib Stadium.
“We will give fans in Perth the chance to attend the World Cup and experience what will be a festival of rugby league,” Brown said.
“The Rugby League World Cup will be the greatest sporting event in Australia next year and we look forward to working with the WA Government to deliver an event that will entertain the world, inspire communities.”

Just a couple of positive articles about Perth hosting a game, wa media has been very favourable since the announcement

Acting Premier and Tourism Minister Liza Harvey said the Liberal National Government's successful bid for the two pool matches reinforced Western Australia's growing reputation as a world-class events destination.
"The Rugby League World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2017, so securing these two important matches in Perth is a real coup for our State," Mrs Harvey said.
"We expect a fantastic atmosphere as rugby league fans and ex-pats get behind the teams, while international media coverage will put Perth firmly on the map for viewers and potential visitors."
The State Government's successful Rugby League World Cup bid, through Tourism Western Australia and VenuesWest, builds on WA's growing rugby league presence.

Surprised we don't have some bitchy hot takes on the American WC yet.
My prediction in order of most shithouse

#1: DT - the combined powers of Rothfield, Bulldog Ritchie, and Paul Kent should make for some truly rubbish commentary

#2: Peter Fitzsimons - Paying $1.80 to come out with some predictable nonsense which can basically be summarised as "Rugby League should stay in its box"

#3: TripleM - Won't somebody think of the heartlands! Bogan baiting headlines and chat will imply that America is stealing Rugby League from Penriff and the bush

Hon. mentions to the English media and Phil Gould, but I think they'll be left behind by the above 3.

And now we wait.

I think the mainstream media would have to 1. know about it and 2. consider it more sensational than the player behaviour or whatever other Sydney based bullshit going on (or not).

Nothing beats a front page Sydney media story, than a player was seen allegedly in the vicinity of a fight.
"i am reliable informed" , "I am hearing" , "A source (who is sauced) mentioned that" "A former NRL star(IOW a 2 game first grader"."two players were seen grappling with each other at training".
