Is there any point in tipping?

The previous four years you can start tipping after round four or five, once teams get a groove n find form you can usually actually tip with a bit of research and check the favourites. What is the point this year ?
Started just looking at the odds and comparing it to the polls on this forum,and I only get three or four a week, there is too many upsets, no one is in form, and I just find it pointless. The people that are winning the tipping comp’s are women that just pick their favourite colour jersey
