Italy and England have named their squads for their upcoming World Cp Qualifyers and the big news is that Heskey has finally been dropped by Eriksson.

Good to see that Lippi has started to weed out some of the sh1t (Peruzzi, Zanetti, Di Vaio, Vieri), but there is still some sweeping up to do (Materazzi, Legrottaglie, Corradi, Del Piero).

Diana is a deep midfield playmaker for Sampdoria. Decent back-up, but not much else.

Toni is a Palermo striker who impressed against Iceland and has been given another chance. At 27, he is a late bloomer but it's good to see that other players are being given a chance.

Zauri is a midfielder or defender (right-or left). Average player, very versatile. Good for squad depth.

Bonera is a young right or centre back from Parma. Very highly-rated and had an excellent Olympic tournament. Deserves his chance and will feature in the defence for years to come.

Also, great to see De Rossi and Gilardino finally get a cap.

Was on Roma's website the otherday but couldn't understand a word of it.

Cassano has only just returned from injury, so he wasn't picked.

He played about 60 minutes this morning against Iran and scored a penalty in a 5-3 victory. Other goalscorers were Totti (x3) and Mexes.
