Flint and Judge Follow NRL Dream

Burleigh Bears Media Release

THE Burleigh Bears this week lost two more players to the National Rugby League Competition after a very successful season.

Queensland Cup Grand Final Man of the Match John Flint caught the eye of talent scouts and has secured a two year deal with Penrith.

Colts Player of the Year Jamie Judge has just put pen to paper with the Bulldogs and will relocate to Belmore next month.

Other Bears players to secure NRL contracts for 2005 are Brent McConnell (North Queensland), Kurt Sorrenson (Parramatta) and Adam Fielder (Bulldogs).

Along with halfback McConnell, Flint is also considered a big loss for the Bears, having only just agreed to a new two-year deal at Burleigh. However, the Bears will never stand in the way of a player who gets an opportunity at a higher level.

“We could see John Flint as being a key member of our side for years to come,'' chief executive Scott Clark said.

"But we were only too happy to see him secure an NRL contract after a great finish to the season.

"Rick Stone has done a fantastic job in bringing the best out of him and we saw what he is capable of in the Grand Final. He will be missed but life goes on and it presents an opportunity for someone else in the top side”.

The Bears have not yet been active in the player market rather focusing on securing the young talent within the club and plugging a few holes.

Rick Stone and strength and conditioning coach Mitchell Kochonda have just mapped out the pre season program which will commence on Monday 22nd November, giving the boys a nine week break.

thats prety official now for Flint
It took along time for his true potential to show but when it did he was tremendous. Likes to put on big hits.
He will be going down a bit like barba, don't know if he will succeed.
He will have to be nurtured and if he settles and gets confidence he will be up there with pomery as a back up, we needed a little more depth there until moors etc come through.
