A tower of consistensy in 2009, Karmichael Hunt helped the Brisbane Broncos achieve their best result since the 2006 premiership. With his lethal combination with represenative halves Darren Lockyer and Peter Wallace, Hunt was able to create 22 try scoring oppurtunities for his outside men on top of scoring 11 tries of his own.
While his season didn't comprise of as many kamikaze runs, Karmichael's influence on the Broncos was never as significant as it was in 2009 as his reliability in the fullback role ensured the Broncos were rarely on the back foot.
As the season drew to a close, Hunt found new ways to terrorise opposition defensive lines by developing a powerful combination with halfback Peter Wallace who left opposition defences grasping at air as he consistently found Hunt streaking along the inside of him, ready to bust the opposition defences.
Unfortunately, Karmichael's future with the Broncos appears to be over after just 124 appearances as he attempts his hand at AFL. Hunt's decision comes as a sour dissapointment for a number of fans as it was believed Hunt would play a pivotal role at the Broncos for years to come. However fans are proud of his contributions to the club and the heart he showed, even as a skinny 17 year old all those seasons ago.
Congratulations Karmichael on winning the 2009 League Unlimited Brisbane Broncos Player of the Year. May the bonds of Rugby League keep you healthy for years to come.
