They wont add another Brisabne club so soon. Any genuine expansion club should have a 3-4 year lead in. In fact they should have had a 10 year lead in to get systems in place! If the NRl had supported the Pirates plan back in 2012 we would now have a very different scenario for Perth admission than we have. The game is so short sighted!

Meanwhile our competitor gives a new club a 5 year lead in and commits $123mill to grassroots and pathways for the new club.

Most likely because like most things Rl its being done half arsed and without the investment thats actually needed. These systems need to start from a young age and some serious coaching and facilities development on the ground. No point having an elite team if the kids that feed it are far from elite in their preparations.
Well that rules out a team in Perth.

Wouldn't teams 18 and 20 be "expansion" sides from markets that wouldn't provide any value in a 17 or 19 team competiton?

Perth and PNG offer sweet f**k all to the broadcasters. New Zealand 2 adds something to Sky. Brisbane 3 adds value to Australia's broadcasters.

If PNG gets the 18th licence then Perth might have to wait until the final licence is up for tender.

pre-super league days and an era in which we saw the introduction of 4 new teams to the winfield cup and some big union converts cross the divide and carve out successful league careers both in Australia and England.

the league international game wasn’t bad either.
I'll never forget Garrick Morgan's first hitup for the Crushers. He ran hard with the ball then stopped cold before the line. Everyone was like "WTF?".
