Raiders showing us what was needed tonight. Earn the right, get into good positions, and THEN the opportunities to score will come. We played like someone said before the game we had to win it 18+. We never did any of the hard work.

Yep. Raiders played perfect round 1 football. Safe and conservative. Get through your sets and then put up a bomb and you’re a 50/50 chance.

We did the opposite. Tried to play a brand of football that’s never going to come off in round 1.

Just really really dumb. Having Cogger and Crossland on at the same time doesn’t work either.

Physically we look in it but there's zero structure and direction.
Agree zero structure and direction

Disagree physically Canberra want this more than the Knights. They are pumped to win

Newcastle at home, in front of their fans, opening round, playing against 12 men for 10 min, and didnt turn up to play - have been handed their own ass.

Only opening round but attitude would want to change or it is going to be a long season.

Idk...our pack was hitting at least as hard as theirs imo. We just had nothing in attack and hands like hooves. No leadership.

Yeah, Raiders just wanted it more. All-in-all just a really pathetic performance by us.

Classic Knights performance in that they just played dumb.
Raiders gave us nothing and we didn’t earn anything.
Big wake up call.

We have been so bad tonight. Just no patience or footy smarts at all. This needs to be a wake up call that 2023 is well and truly over and 2024 has begun. We can’t just act like we’re going to turn up and thrash teams like we did in that streak last year. The Raiders just strangled us out of the game and we fell straight into the trap.

Just so so so dumb tonight.

Guarantee 100% we are 0/2 after next weekend…

The Starling, Papali tackle sums up the game for mine. The reaction of Young to that tackle - Canberra the team that wanted it more.

The worst part was it was the same from the Kick off to the final whistle.

Leadership is still a concern. This team needs a vocal old head in the pack. Friz is not that person.

When will the Saifiti's get their marching orders to leave the club? Disappointing considering the responsibility they have.

While this was obviously round 1 and if I’m being honest, I think we’ll get a lot better, we’re probably going to be 0/5 given our draw. Dont wanna be saying season done too early but that’s a big hole to climb out of.

I felt like our attack suffered because we had too many halves and playmakers on the field. Too lateral and stopped Ponga getting any ball. We looked best at the start of the game when we just had the spine from last year out there. The errors were killing us but we looked a lot more dangerous. Crossland should only be on the field as hooker or nothing else. Cogger is a starting half or in reserve grade.

The big concern is that the second half was worse than the first. We started off dropping so much ball but you felt our class could still get us back into the game. But then it actually got worse, we made less errors but were genuinely outplayed. We didn't have anything in attack at all, we were dumb, we lacked intensity, we let in soft tries, leadership was lacking. It was bad enough that couldn't predict us to turn it around straight away.

Still waiting to get some value out of Hetherington. One good run every few weeks doesn’t count either. We need more out of him.
