Because f**k it, why not? A great series win and an amazing, gutsy, backs to the wall effort tonight, but lacking a bit of polish when the game was there to be won at the end (when to be fair they were all gassed). Still plenty of room for improvement in our squad, especially in the forwards. A few of them need to aim up a lot more than they did across the series, and produce an effort more in line with what they show week in, week out.
Teddy, Turbo, Latrell, and Addo-Carr all established themselves as belonging in this arena. The jury is still out on Roberts. I'd be inclined to move Tom to centre and bring in Cotric.
We don't really have too many options in the halves. Cleary has a huge upside. Maloney is rocks and diamonds, but certainly was crucial in winning the series. The rest of our eligible halves don't really stand out as putting much pressure on either of them: Austin, Sezer, Williams, Moses, Pearce, Lamb, Cogger, Watson, Keary, Brooks, Moylan, Townsend, Reynolds, Reynolds, Hodkinson, Green, Doueihi, May, Luai, Hodkinson. Not too many future immortals in that list.
In the forwards, all our back rowers did ok, but I thought all our front rowers were unwhelming. The question is what options do we have outside RCG, Vaughan, Prior, and Klemmer? Not the eternal pillow Woods, certainly. Ryan James? Tolman? We're pretty light on to be frank. The 4 who did play this series are our best, but they all need to really fire up if given another go next year. Their lack of go forward is what kept Queensland in all 3 games.
Cook has a mortgage on the hooking spot for as long as he's around. Was the true man of the series. McInnes is a handy back up if Cook goes down.
I don't mind Peachey on the bench, but we need a better plan to use him. Get him into the game much earlier. Personally I'd probably opt for an extra forward though.
