We never give young guys ago like other clubs do then they leave us..Hastings... Bird.. Age shouldn't matter if there good enough throw them in before someone else poaches them ... Sooooo frustrating

Aitken and Host blows that theory out of the water

Is anyone hearing Dufty to Souths?

Well it definitely wont be the dragons. He has been told he does not fit into their future direction. Re souths - Inglis will play centre from now on, walker will be 5/8 next year with no Keary so with only Johnston yes he maybe on the radar of Souths to have backup.

Yeah with 2 test players in Inglis and Johnson and a contender for rookie of the year in Cody walker who all play fullback they have the need for him???

Gee, thanks for the sarcastic shitbag response.

Am gunna guess you haven't heard anything but felt compelled to get involved regardless.

For the record Inglis is now playing centre and likely to stay there, Walker will replace Keary at 5/8 and Johnson hasn't exactly fired at fullback.

But thanks for your input!

Settle down pal.

My response was directed to Souths potentially stockpiling players in a certain position and not at you.

Interesting to see how a well run club has a succession plan and not ad hoc approach to recruitment.

The Storm have just announced they have signed Jerome Hughes from the Cowboys and also the junior kiwi hooker, Brandon Smith to replace Cameron Smith over time.

They seem to have a plan, Dragons don't seem to know who or what they want or need. Also see Marshall is negotiating with other clubs now..this maybe PR from his manager to bump his price up.

Great comment.

The Storm are securing their spine for the future. Hughes > Slater : Smith > Smith : Nikorima (probably) > Cronk and Munster > Green.
These are not hacks or fringe players, they already show huge potential and great signing for the future of the club.

Dragons : ? > Dugan (expected move to the centres) : ? > Benji : ? > Rein : I think Widdop will be around for a while but again ? to replace him.

Again and again we seem to prefer to buy "experienced" fringe players and expect them to become superstars under Mary's coaching.
I understand the methodology and thinking, just take a look at the Cowboys, they have turned some average players into great players, but they have a coach!

We need to extract the proverbial digit from our backside, stop pretending that the "brand" will attract quality players and start looking at our long term future.
If our recruitment in the past has negotiated contracts with back-ended deals or other promises, then we will all have to expect that our Dragons will hover between 13-8th for the next 3 -5 years.

Sad that we have come to this.

Was thinking the same, well played storm. They've identified perhaps the best young talent available to replace their current stars when they retire... Smart, smart, smart....

Sure there is no guarantee that these youngsters will deliver in first grade in the future, however at least the storm have got the best available at this Point in time and given the club the best possible chance to succeed in the future, which is more then I can say when comparing our recruitment strategy...

The Dragons have a future dummy half in Reece Robson and hopefully look to keep him long term as he is a genuine talent.

They have retained Sele, Herbert, Garrick and are looking at keeping Dufty and Leilua.

Host is signed beyond this year and the club should look at giving him a extention.

The under 20's has shown the club has some very good up and comers.

Whoa.....wait a minute Coasty !
Do you mean we have signed good junior players?

Well that doesn't suit or match the repetitive doomsday posts that constantly burn our eyes
