Stanley Gene remains one of my fave all time players. Great to see PNG players getting more opportunities than they do in NRL. It would pay SL clubs to think about having formal link ups with Digicel clubs maybe?

Gebbie at my hometown club is a coup for haven.

Meanwhile Judah Rimbu and Epel Kapinias from the Hunters are training with the Dolphins this preseason.

Unfortunately this just seems to be a token gesture as nothing ever comes of it.

I think 2 or 3 hunters players trained with the dolphins last season and nothing came of it.

Yeah it does seem like a token gesture. But two of the Players who were here for training with the Dolphins have both gone on to better things this year.
Rodrick Tai to Warrington and Emmanuel Waine with London. Only Morea Morea is back with the Hunters but he is slowly recovering from a bad ankle injury from the PMs13 game.

Mate I would much notice of him.

It is a good thing, There are many guys on train and trials that fall through altogether so 2 getting professional deals is great

Can’t hurt but yeh essentially it would just be a training arrangement rather than a trial as such. It’d be good to see some 18-20 year olds get the opportunity, no offense to someone like Kapinias but he’s been around and his NRL window is probably closed or very slim chance at this stage. Can be a bit of both though to be fair.

Yeah the name is strange as most don't make it to the trials

Those players would have moved to England regardless of any token training stunt with the dolphins.

If the dolphins are serious about developing PNG talent then why not affiliate themselves with the hunters?

or better yet help establish junior teams at u21 and u19 level in the Queensland competitions?

Because they want to run their own reserve grade team

What 110 players are you talking about?

There were 110 players on train and trial deals last year. There are currently around the same number this year.

Most won't get signed into a full contract, It does get them into the system. Knowing their diet habits etc.

That will help those who get contracts
