PNG Players in England

There were 110 players on train and trial deals last year. There are currently around the same number this year.

Most won't get signed into a full contract, It does get them into the system. Knowing their diet habits etc.

That will help those who get contracts
But the 2 png hunters players aren’t on train&trial deals they are just training with the dolphins during the pre-season period hence the token gesture remark.

They were on the same deal as 108 other players you bell end.

so there was either 110 token gestures or none

If the dolphins are serious about developing PNG talent then why not affiliate themselves with the hunters?

or better yet help establish junior teams at u21 and u19 level in the Queensland competitions?
Because nrl clubs aren’t charities. They are only interested in what’s best for them.

Don’t think they are, they were there for pre season only, train and trial contracts are for the full season.

I don't know what the arrangement is this year but last season Rodrick Tai spent most of the year training with the Dolphins and only joining the Hunters for Captains runs and the weekend matches.

Emmnuel Waine was doing the same before he left for London Broncos around April/May.

No they aren't train and trial is as the article states

They can only 1st grade from that when they sign an upgrade.

After the 8 weeks they have to move to some sort of contract to play, Josh Reynolds is perfect example.

Signed to NRL when his Train and trial ended. Teams all have a spot or 2 free only. So most go elsewhere or stay on a 2nd tier contract

no they are not.

also when resorting To name calling means you’re losing the argument.
so there was either 110 token gestures or none
those players have the opportunity to earn a contract unlike the 2 hunters players currently doing pre-season training with the dolphins hence token gesture.

Epel Kapinias has suffered what looks like a season ending knee injury whilst training with the Dolphins.
