Politis laughable

From Roy Masters in the SMH 18/6: "Politis, the Roosters chairman, has already complained to NRL chief executive David Gallop about the effect the upgraded status of new Blues half Brett Finch will have on his contract and, therefore, the club's salary cap. With seven Roosters playing Origin in 2004, the irony of the Bondi Junction club being the financial loser of a series designed to fill the game's coffers is not lost on the billionaire businessman."

Should've thought of that when you signed him Nick. Take it up with your Goose of a mate, the club's coaching director, who drafted him into the side above other more worthy options.

I have to agree with Nick Politis on this. The salary cap should be raised for the roosters so they can keep these extra SOO players. Lets lift the roosters cap to 5 million a season.

Lets be honest here, how many other clubs within the NRL have had to dump players they have produced as to stay under the salary cap? None that I can think of. It's time the NRL rewarded the roosters for bringing the likes of Wing, Fitzgibbon, Jason Cayless, Filttler, Finch, Morley, Hodges, etc all were developed by the roosters, only to go on and play for either thier state or nation.

It is also rumor that Adrian Moorley will take out Australian citizenship so they he can play for NSW in next years SOO series. NSW puppet coach in 2005 Ricky Stuart and puppet master Phil Gould have asked him to throw away his GB jersey and national pride so he can play for "punch and judy" show.

Trust me it's another ploy. You watch Finch will probably come out and state, he does not want the money. he is also playing for the love of the Roosters.

Yep Finchy, and if your carreer ends this season, Will you regret it, or run to switzerland for some Swiss cheese..

In regards to politis, he is only doing his job. The strain of having 11 rep players is starting to show on the books.

But hey, if Souths and the Eels can spend 3.5 Mill on their Squads, the Roosters management are the most creative accountants in all of Australia.

I Should know, a mate was one for them. :D

You really cannot post anything of any credibility can you??

How many rep players do the queens have and what has Peter Doust been whining about? Once again look in your own backyard.

As for your mate being a Rooster accountant.....well as if anyone would ever believe you.

Gee you are stupid!

oh now add firman to that list of players they have developed and also jamie peacock. But he'll play for $150,000, $50,000 less than morley, because he loves Australia.

Also because he'll have an apartment at coogee bought for him as well probably.

Instead of complaining why not cease signing and re-signing more players.

Firman!

Peacock!

Why do the Roosters have Firman?
Cause we had to offer him a chance to play elsewhere because of the cap.
Paying Rep honours to:
Barrett
Bailey
Ryles
Timmins
Gasnier
Hornby
Might not be as many as the Chooks, but you've only got Gus to thank for that.
Honestly, it is a running joke amongst league fans how the roosters can keep so many rep players they've bought under the cap.
Listen to 2sm in the arvos to hear people's views.

We lsot a stack of players after Blacklock, Gasnier and Ryles were picked to play for Australia by Chris Anderson a few years ago.

Yet the more Roosters players get picked in Rep Games, the more they can buy.

Go Figure.

I think the Roosters are their worst enemy in regards to this issue. If you are a gun player for a team say The Wests Tigers, (John Skandalis) your chances of getting a look in to playing SOO for NSW are slim.

The reason for this is that that team does not have anyone involved with the SOO team or selections.
The Roosters, Dragons and Knights are differant. The fringe players, (Like Kite, Hornby and Finch) for example get picked. (Are they promised sign up to those clubs and they will get a look in, who knows??)

You cant tell me that Hornby is better than Hodgson or that Kite is better than Laffranchi or the brilliant Skandalis. They are chalk and cheese.

Saints have many players in the team and if uninjured would have many more. Wests are above them on the competition table and have none.

Its just that Daley is the assistant coach of NSW and that Gould is the NSW coach. So they pick players from there own teams.

Some people raised there eyebrows when Kenny McGuinness was picked for NSW when Tommy was coach, well its the same thing.

The Dragons are the new Souths in terms of dumb deals. They released Firman with 2 years running on his current contract. DO you actually know how much Easts have to pay for him....didley Squat. And the beauty of this deal is whilst Firman carves up for Easts, he's still bighting the Dragon's cap. Now THATS funny. Bad business decision by Saints. Theyre not Souths yet, but theyre on the way!
