Prior has been reported for shoulder charge early plea 1 game, challenge and lose 2 games

Cronulla Sharks forward Matt Prior is facing a one- or two-match ban over a shoulder charge in Friday night's win over the Dragons.

Prior was charged over his 20th-minute hit on St George Illawarra back-rower Joel Thompson and will miss one match with an early guilty plea or risks a two-match ban if he unsuccessfully fights the charge at the judiciary.

No way

Fight that shit!

When is SOO selected, it'd like to see him available & pushing for selection on the bench- he'd smash those maroon pricks!

Fortunately for the Sharks that ship had sailed for Matty..,,,, with Fifi and Wadeo already lock-ins for Origin we need him on deck. I'd say cop the week and freshen him up. Will need bigger minutes out of him through the origin period.

if he fights it he loses. Under the 2017 definition it is a shoulder charge.

As part of a change to the Judiciary and Match Review system, a player will be charged if:

• The contact is forceful, and;
• The player did not use, or attempt to use, his arms (including his hands) to tackle or otherwise take hold of the opposing player.

He doesnt use his arm or hand. It is actually in from of Thompson. Argue if you must but look at it first.

Front on chest contact. If Sam Burgess got off then Prior has nothing to worry about.

They are not the same. Burgess was stationery, Prior moved in on the player. Thats why Burgess got off, he successfully argued he was braced for contact. Prior wasnt.

Think like the NRL people.

I thought it was front on & more a push.

Bugger-all shoulder!

Nuh, the contact was with his shoulder for sure. The only way he wins if they can produce an argument against using angles we didnt see.

Starts about 30 seconds in

I reckon he's used his right arm. Certainly not the traditional type of shoulder charge they brought the rule in for in the first place.

Well if that's the definition the first criteria is satisfied but not the second one. It did attempt to use his arms, it just occured after the initial contact.
