I am very surprised that no one has rehashed this thread yet.

Robson was terrific today, playing out of position. Only really good footballers can do what Robson did today. I thought he was too small to carry on the bench as a middle forward (besides hooker). I thought he was just a specialist hooker, but today he showed that he is a real footballer. I am shaking my head is disbelief that he is reportedly signed with Nth Qld. I wanted to see him given a run at the start of the year. I would have been bringing him on with about 25 to go in the game, only using one interchange. After seeing him play lock today, I am going to make the decisive call and say that he will be a better hooker than McInnes. Given the opportunity he may be able to prove that he is already a better hooker than McInnes. This is Cook 2.0 situation. In 2 years time the 2 best hookers in the game will be ex Saints players.

I would have been giving Robson a run at the start of the year and told him to hold off signing any contract, until I make a decision on who would be my long term hooker. After seeing him today, it didn't take me long to make up my mind. Losing Robson will prove to be a massive lose. This lies solely on the shoulders of Mary. He can not identify talent and is poor at bringing talent through. If Robson had been given a run at the start of the season, we may have been able to keep him.

At the start of the season, there were reports that we may have been offloading McInnes to Parra. At the time myself and numerous others said that if we had to make a choice between Robson or McInnes, that we would have taken the gamble and chose Robson. Possm was another who said we should keep Robson. lol

ps, McInnes won't play for NSW in the future, unless Cook and Robson are both injured or suspended at the same time during origin.

I will add that there have been many people on this site who have had a huge opinion of Robson for a long time. You were all correct.

I still cannot find anything officially saying he has signed elsewhere?

Am I missing something?
Is there a reason not to state officially?
Is this just a rumour? Or reality?
Wtf is going on?

The Bad news is he will not be the last.....Kerr and field will almost certainly also leave ...Lomax is a talent...wasted here...he will get offers and there are others....when you look at the players we have lost in the last few years and look likely to lose it is a monumental stuff up......

The current coach prefers "Journeymen "...............our whole back 5 ( excluding Lomax ) ..are poor.....

This hurts my heart. It is a reminder not only of the talent we lose, but the talent we keep that never improve and stay mediocre when they could blossom into some of the best players in the game. This club isn't what it used to be. It's a disgrace, run by incompetent misers who only care about their money. It's so selfish when you consider that for some fans, this club is their life. They are only about retaining their old boy and their status. Honestly the club used to be a family, now it feels like a corporation that isn't even about footballing anymore...

Agree 100 % and its a corporation that is failing its "shareholders" the Fans and the sponsors....

It is totally amateur hour stuff........This Board are absolutely a disgrace to the St George name...

They should grow a backbone and all leave and take the coaching staff with them.

Saints were once the pride of the league, our history is steeped in our culture, our record breaking premierships, a host of players who are legends.
The big red V stood for something when players would want to play for us and players would sacrifice just to run out in our Team colours.
That is all just a memory for some of us old farts. It’s a disgrace that the many young and not so young will never experience that feeling of pride in our team
I hate to say it but we are now just making up the numbers.

Well it’s not official yet so there is still some hope. He could be the solution to the issue at lock.

I think he is the best suited to hooker at the moment his attacking spark and flair might be what we need to get over the line
Mccinnes is also an amazing tackling machine who seems to make a lot of bad decision poor reads and lazy passes out of dummy half

Put one of them at lock and be done with it. Use jdbs money for a prop or winger/centre.
Murray is in the blues side. Either could play Like him. Would love Robson in 13. Handles the d well. Quick the Balls and can play link. Most importantly moves blocka into the prop rotation where he belongs

Who is Reece Robson? We don't have a Reece Robson in our club. Just listened to Mcdope in his post match presser. We have a Reece Robinson who went well yesterday. Maybe that's why he keeps missing selection in the team every week. "Coach" doesn't know who he is.

There is a strong rumour that Robson has signed with NQ however, no official mention as yet. Maybe he has an out, maybe he can pull out of that deal.

Well before the JDB trouble, I supported the idea that Robson could play the Dean Young role in the forwards which was so successful in 2009-2010 in the Bennett era; Robson is already a much better player than Dean Young.

This and other decisions made of late just goes to show that the experiment of having Millward promote/recruit and Mary select players just does not work. The head coach needs to own the decision to recruit/promote players and if he is not up to this, he should not be appointed as head coach.

Most head coaches have staff involved in pathways/recruitment/retention. The is a good reason for this to be so.

I say SGI should do their best to retain Robson and if they cannot reverse this mistake, both Millward and Mary should be held accountable and lose their job right now.
