Rod Broderick

Just a quick question for all the former Magpies fans from the late 70s-early 80s.

On 2GB this evening some caller rang Tommy Raudonikos and during their chat I am sure he mentioned the passing of Rod Broderick. I did not hear the call properly as the kid and wife were chatting.

Could someone confirm if this is the case, as I had fond memories of Rod from the Lidcombe Oval days

If that is the case, it's very sad. He was a good player ... a centre I think ... but I believe his name was RON (not Rod) Broderick. I once coached a schoolboy team in the Auburn area and had him and Ted Goodwin come alonmg to a few training sessions. Both were great with the kids.
