Running and tackling is perfectly fine if you do it with energy and intent. That's basically all Martin is and with two working shoulders he's a top 3 edge in the game. Mav doesn't bring either.

Because Luai has been poor.

He comes on for Garner. That edge is getting no ball because of Luai stepping in field.

He is a taller, younger Garner. So a plodder

This. Luai needs to work with those outside him better. He set up a good try vs souths just need more.

I rate Garner higher than a plodder. He obviously needs a half to set him up but he'll hit the hole everytime

I class a plodder as being someone that can't create their own attack. A player needs a passing game or something to not be in that category

It’s easy to determine if someone fits the definition of a plodder……does Martie like them?

While likability is a factor, it runs much deeper than that. Overall agility and athleticism or lack there of, hard work v talent ratio, a bland physical appearance, and an unexplainable excitement level that comes from Player X popping a dirty offload in traffic, all come into calculations when determining plod, plodders, and plod gods alike.

Keeping all this in mind, I determine Garner is in fact NOT a plodder.

There's also the myth of running GOOD lines, most backrowers know there job and run good lines, the ownership of how good that line is really if the defence deems than worthy of stopping them, ie do you think he is getting the ball?, is he a major treat?
Example A= kikau, the ultimate 2ndrower does he runs good lines? Or is he just that powerful that run through defence lines regardless if the put 2 defenders on him...
Example B= Liam Martin, major threat, runs good lines? Maybe but steam rolls one on one defence.
Example C Luke Garner =runs good lines, but that a heightened perception coz the defence don't think he is going to get the ball, therefore he is ignored as a major threat, so when he does hit the hole he slices through defence like hot knife they butter, why, they didn't think he was a threat

Hey does Alamoti play both sides or left side specialist? Just wondering whether May will get shifted to the right for this one

Weather not looking good for Friday night which is a shame in more ways than one. Will no doubt significantly reduce the crowd which will be a shame since we haven’t played at home for a while. Heavy showers during the game will no doubt have an impact as well.

Sad with our rivals the Bulldogs in attendance as well. My favourite games to watch at Penrith growing up were against the Dogs.

Its fast becoming our best cross-town derby, especially with the number of ex-panthers and the fall of the Tigers/Eels.

I can only ever remember him playing left edge at the Dogs.

Scored against us last year at Penrith playing left edge.

Wouldn't it be nice to have Stephen Crichton right now? Centre or wing on either side of the field.

There’s been a lot of negative conversation around our start to this season, but we are actually in a very good position and if we capitalise on the next couple of weeks it really sets up our season nicely. At our best we should be winning the next two going into a tough away game against the Sharks at there place.

I have no doubts if the weather is good it will be a sell out.
I think it’s virtually a sell out already, it’s just a question of how many choose not to turn up if the weather is unkind which is the way it is shaping up. I know it’s 48 hours away but it is pouring down up in Winmalee right now and in similar conditions I couldn’t imagine fans exposed to such conditions subjecting themselves to the elements.

Both sides.
Alamoti played right centre in NSW cup last week.
Coming through the grades with the Dogs he played right. Only when he was closer to playing FG did he shifted to the left.
