What's with the assumption (in many sports) that superstar players automatically make great coaches. If Buckley wasn't Buckley there is no way he'd have been fasttracked like that.

Superstar players rarely go on to become good coaches.

Things are not going well for Collingwood.

Ghastly to lose Ball now for the season as well.:thumbd:

I know what this is like, only too well.

You lose players early in the year, things start to cascade, you find yourself plugging gaps until things get back on an even keel, but they don't...

There can be a positive in that you usually get unexpected performances from young players elevated before their time, but the true value of that is usually only felt a year or two down the track.

Testing times ahead for the Magpies.

In better news, I thought both Port and the GC showed really good signs today.

Port, in particular, have really lifted from last season.

Best we don't talk about Melbourne though.

GC just don't know how to win yet. They should have last night. Hunt played well. 17k? Yea, right.

Melbourne are crap. Port definitely looking much better.

Excellent win by North. Wanted to tip it, but didn't have the courage to risk the ridicule.

Also a strong showing by St Kilda overnight. Really thought the Bulldogs would have the better of them, but it looks like being a very long year indeed for the Hounds.

Dogs and Demons could merge and I still don't think they'd be able to put a decent 22 together.

The North win was interesting. Was it them announcing themselves as a legit top 8 team or was it first signs of decline from Geelong.

If North can back it up with a win at the SCG next week then they are legit. I'm still confident we can beat them.

West Coast see your top 4 and piss all over it.
West Coast are a typical paper champion team. They lucked into the top 4 last year, (Swans beat them in Perth).

Embley is now gone, injuries are mounting, they'll lose by 7-8 goals to Hawthorn.

The gap between the top 5 or 6 is greater this year than for a number of years

It's the same as every other year.

Top 5 will be Geelong, Bluefilth, Pies, West Coast, in no particular order.

It's R3. Neither Pies or Geelong are up and about yet, the other three far enough ahead of the rest to not have any concerns.

As impressive as they were yesterday, not sold on Nth yet. At worst they will definitely finish 6th. Whether a contender or not remains to be seen.

Sydney :D stick to making a twat of yourself on the main board
