Smithy even rattled Bennett at his peak

Bennett was blessed with rep players coming off the bench where as Smith had a bunch of Journey men, plodders, tradesmen and the odd rep player at both saints and Parra.

Smith's record against Bennett in Brisbane as Parra coach was incredible with the side the Broncos had during the late 90s/ early 2000s.

Parra won in Brisbane during Smith's tenure in 1998 x 2, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004.

There is no worse time to be an NRL coach than when Wayne Bennett, the game’s most successful mentor, is looking for a new job.
A disastrous start to 2024 at South Sydney, on the back of a late season implosion last year, has Jason Demetriou on borrowed time and looking over his shoulder as Bennett’s name is bandied about as his eventual successor.
Parramatta’s Brad Arthur can’t be blamed for doing the same even though club bosses insist his job is safe at the Eels.
The longest serving Eels coach is under the pump after a humiliating loss against Bennett’s undermanned Dolphins last week has raised questions about whether his tenure has finally run its course at the western Sydney powerhouse.
Arthur has the unwanted record for most games coached at a club without a premiership (261) ahead of Canberra’s Ricky Stuart (254) and Brian Smith who was in charge of 243 games at the Eels without winning a competition.

Even more reason to sack BA so that Pricky can claim that record off him for most games coached at a club without a premiership.

Is Jackson Topine a good player? I didnt know him but he is a hooker. Won't buy into the lawsuit stuff maybe he just has ethics..?
He might be a cheap buy that can play hooker?

It’s amazing how you try to work your pretend resources argument into everything - how could you possibly assert knowledge of our capacity to pay or even our budget for support staff and admin.

The fact is that you don’t know if we could afford Matt Cameron or his staff - but you pretend we can’t as it suits your present argument of deflecting blame for any deficient performance of coach or club.

mind you, if everyone said that we didn’t need better coaching or staff, you would be arguing the exact opposite!
