The South East Regional Academy of Sport (SERAS) has announced the scholarship holders for its 2004 Rugby League Program being run in partnership with the Canberra Raiders.

The 14 member squad is: Michael Picker (Bigga); Daniel Romer (Crookwell); Jhy Cockburn (Goulburn); Mathew Britt (Yass); Mathew Lewis (Queanbeyan); Corey Thomas (Cooma); Jake Wertenbeck (Bombala); Kale Burton and Reece Morgan (Bega); Patrick Willis (Narooma); Sam Bowie, Wade Merritt and Jared Searson (Batemans Bay); and Michael Leeds (North Durras).
Richard Paton from Yass is the head coach of the program and he will be assisted by Adrian Day from Queanbeyan who will also cover the role as squad manager.
Adrian will shortly be moving to the South Coast and SERAS hopes to have another staff member in place before the program commences.
The program will be based around several camps with the first camp scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14 at the Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre. Athletes will undergo an induction to the Academy at this camp as well as fitness testing, skill assessment, vision and communication skills.
Other camps are to be held at the Raiders training complex in Bruce as well as one camp at Tuross Heads on the South Coast. Athletes, parents and staff will also attend the SERAS Education Day and Awards Ceremony to be held at the University of Canberra in September.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for these young athletes as they will have the full support of the Canberra Raiders and receive individual assessments and coaching from the Raiders 1st Grade coaching staff, Dave Hamilton the Raiders Development Manager and Matt Ford the Raiders Strength and Conditioning Coordinator" said Garry Lane the SERAS Executive Officer.
