Disagree, it has already been a success and offers juniors a pathway to develop and helps promote the game to attract more juniors, it will take time.
They already have a victory and have scored more points than several clubs and have a few good prospects as well. The pudding is not yet baked so you are a bit early to judge.

rubbish! This is their first ever experience playing at this level and so far they have won one, been competitive in one and got well beaten in one. If they were losing 80-0 every game you would have a point.

Personally I hope we can find the money one day to be running both as they are both essential to pathways for our best players.

ps I don't think the WARL had much choice. The ARL grant had run out and they couldn't find the $600K to run a Bundy cup team. At least this way they were able to access some more ARL $'s and keep a Reds team going in a different format.

Footy Watch if you know of a way for them to find $600k a season I am sure the WARL would very much like to hear from you!

Last year the Magpies only won one game all season. Four other clubs only won two games. The parent clubs still see the value in having them in this year. It is not about winning but development. And these 'juniors' are probably next year's A grade players. I think we have to give it a couple of years to really judge the worth.

pps good luck on your debut Shane. Great to see a kid from the SW making it into the side. Hopefully will help with the new SW Warriors development.

yeh tough score line on the boys. 3rd week on the road though and Eeels are tipped to win it so I hope they aren't getting too down hearted. At home next week so would be nice to see some fans down there cheering them on.

Could be a tough game next week. Canterbury are reigning premiers and beat Parramatta in Round 1

How many of your kids are 18 and how many are 17?

If you can't make the finals it's time to drop all the 18 year olds who aren't future NRL players and replace them with 17 year olds who will return bigger and better next year.
You don't drop any kids with a real future of course, just the ones who are making up the numbers.
Any 17 year olds who get a taste now will train hard for the next year - far more than they would if they didn't get a taste of the bigtime.

Another question ... why are the reds only playing 9 games when there is 18 teams in the competition ??

It's HSC year for most of these kids - and also most of them play for their schools in the Arrive Alive cup.
The really good kids who have a chance to make a living out of league will be picked up to play NYC (under 20s) - but the rest have more important things to do than to play a 6 month comp in their most important school year.
