That doesn't sound right for barrow

Warrington disappointing imo thought 12-13k given they contenders for the title

I thought getting a bigger crowd than Bradford who were playing a team of similar size but a more local rival was good.

Especially as City vs Liverpool were playing at the same time.

I suppose the fact that its disappointing is good as it shows how far Warrington have come.

Week 2 so far:

Wigan v Warrington - 20,050
Catalan v Salford - 6,872
Wakefield v Hull KR - 9,237

2 good crowds and a very average one so far. Depending on the weather tomorrow I'd expect Cas/Leeds to get 9-10k, Hull/Bradford to get 12-13k, Widnes/Saints & Hudds/London I have no clue on.

That's a great crowd at Wakefield Trinity!
let me put it into context
There were a large number of potential problems,
1. Wakefield got hammered last week
2. HKR got well beaten last week
3. The M62 is shut between Hull & Wakefield
4. The match was live on SKY TV
5. It was a freezing cold night
6. It was payed on a Saturday evening which offers lots of distractions especially for the younger fans

With all this taken into account 9,237 is a huge crowd and represents an 8% increase on last years corresponding fixture which in turn was about 23% up on the 2011 fixture.

With the new stadium set for 2015 Trinity look to be heading there in fine fettle

Totally agree with TC. I just hope Wakey aren't going down the same path as Bradford did. By that I mean I hope the vast majority of people attending the game paid the going rate.

Wakefield have sold 4,500ish memberships at £125
I reckon rovers brought around 1500 meaning about 3200 Wakefield fans paid on the day (£20)

There's a clear business plan at Wakefield which roughly explained is pack em in in large numbers then have loads of retail opportunities inside the ground to maximise revenues from games. There are many many more bars, food outlets & merchandising opportunities inside the stadium now and they all seem to do really well.

Don't forget,
New Stadium in 2015

I know they played London, but i expected more at Huddersfield. Also though Hull would have had closer to 15k. Great crowds at Cas, Widnes and Wakey.
Catalans should start to see their crowds increase as the season wears on

Terrific crowds considering the screen grab I saw of a recent weather report over there....not having all games on TV helps crowds Id say....Been a long time since I HAD to go to a game if I wanted to see my team play that w/end

It works both ways imo.

Having all games on TV helps with promotion of those games. If a TV station advertises a game they are showing, they are also advertising for free when, where & and what time that game is on and gives that information to a wider audience then that who would already know.

Just to show you how bad the conditions were yesterday at the Cas/Leeds game...

No top flight professional sports club should be allowed to survive on that amount of fans IMO. It's killing the already poor reputation of the league. Had that been in Wakefield you're looking at probably 8k+ Which makes this weeks average look good.
