Round 1
Tigers v Roosters

The only senior team for the Tigers this season is our reserve grade team.

Our season started off with a rocky start when we were knocked back from playing in the A Grade competition by the SARL. As a result we lost our coach, several players and our ‘prospective’ major sponsor.

We bounced back by securing the services of Steve Black as our coach (maybe a blessing in disguise). Shenannigans Irish Bar, Marion, as our major sponsor. Stamford Hotels and Resorts, Southgate Holden, Body Science, Keith Moorman Painter and Decorator, and Simpson Sport as minor sponsors and I shouldn’t forget the talent we have picked up along the way.

Our pre-season form, while promising, has been indifferent only winning 1 game, but I should also mention that of the 4 games played 2 were against A Grade opposition and the other loss was against the Reserve Grade pre-season favourites Eels RLC.

Round 1 saw us up against Central Districts Roosters. Centrals are a very physical side but today, for the first time this season, there was some real mongrel in our squad. We were missing some regular starters through pre-season injury and non-appearance but the boys went out full of confidence for a win first up and didn’t take a step backwards.

There wasn’t a player on the field who didn’t put-in in the first half and we went into the break 24 – 0 up.

The 2nd half was just as impressive although we were short of subs on the bench, but the guys stuck in there and came out winners 36 – 6.

There is no way we could pick a best on the ground, and proof of this is the results of the players player award for the end of the game, in which the players get to vote for their best team-mate, which saw a 3 way tie for votes.

This year is a re-building year for the Tigers, but to date, regardless of the results for the rest of the season, we could not be happier with the people and players that we have been able to bring to the club.

Rugby League will forever be the greatest game on earth and the Tigers are out to become the greatest team in South Australia. If your reading this and living in Adelaide and thinking of playing please contact Marc Brown on 0418 192 144.
