SOUTH Sydney forward Dave Taylor's Queensland State of Origin berth is in jeopardy after a dangerous throw incident in the Rabbitohs' 17-12 win over the Broncos at a waterlogged NIB Stadium in Perth last night.

The tackle was not put on report, but is sure to come under close scrutiny from the NRL match review panel, with the man on the receiving end Broncos prop, Scott Anderson landing awkwardly on his neck.

In another worrying development for Queensland coach Mal Meninga ahead of the Origin decider on Wednesday week, Souths centre, Greg Inglis hurt his left shoulder attempting a big hit mid-way through the second half, although he ran out the game.

Broncos fullback, Josh Hoffman was lucky not to escape serious injury after he fell victim to a controversial "missile" tackle from Souths half, Chris Sandow. Hoffman stayed down for attention but finished the match.

Taylor was magnificent for the Rabbitohs and was the favourite with the crowd of 15,379 which braved atrocious conditions. Wind and driving rain hit the ground half an hour before kick-off and scared off many people who had bought tickets at the sold-out 22,000 capacity ground.

The much anticipated battle between Broncos centre, Justin Hodges and Inglis was negated to some extent by the conditions.

But Inglis made one of the runs of the night from a quick tap, swivelling his way out of trouble in an amazing 40 metre surge.

Souths led 14-6 at halftime, but the Broncos closed the gap to two points when enterprising hooker, Kurt Baptiste scored from dummy half in the 58th minute and Corey Parker converted.

Brisbane were denied a try in the 71st minute when Alex Glenn pounced on the rolling ball, but winger, Gerard Beale was ruled to have knocked on in the build-up.

Souths hooker, Issac Luke also was denied a try in the 49th minute with video referee, Steve Clark deciding it was 'Ref's Call'. Central referee Steve Lyons ruled Luke had been stopped short.

Souths got off to an explosive start, racing to a 12-0 lead after just seven minutes with second-rower Chris McQueen and fullback Rhys Wesser scoring tries and Sandow converting both.

Sandow sent McQueen in for his try after Broncos winger Dale Copley coughed up possession in a gang tackle.

Sandow also set up Wesser's try with his kick landing on the full in an in-goal puddle and stopping dead.

Brisbane replied in the 14th minute with centre Jack Reed outleaping Sandow to score from a Lockyer kick. Parker converted to make it 12-6.

Sandow kicked a 30m penalty goal in the 34th minute after Broncos forward Sam Thaiday was caught for an infringement in the ruck.

The Broncos finished the half on the attack and with a repeat run looked set to score.
