Well, Clark did get State of Origin II+III over Bill Harrigan in the 1999 series, after Harrigan's woeful performance in game one

Funnily enough during times of extreme boredom and angst I had pondered the following...

Which of the following would I choose:

Option A.... Steve Clarke keeps refereeing until he gets a grand final (passes away in x years having never controlled one)...... and Saints never win one whilst he is alive...

Option B.... Clarke achieves his stated goal of refereeing a grand final... retires content and we win the next year...

To be honest no idea,it might have been after they looked back on the '98 semi debacle with Saints fans and it might be the same problem after the Grand Final.Or they changed their mind and wanted the experience of Harrigan.
