Suitable penalty for conduct breach?

It's pretty obvious that penalty/s are going to be handed out to whoever breached the code of conduct. I'm wondering if these penalties should take what's resulted in mind, or should they simply be based on the initial breach. In other words, if a player brought a player brought a girl back, and nothing untoward happened, but the club had to hand out a penalty, it wouldn't be too severe.

Given what this has led to, should the penalty be more severe? The club is under enormous pressure to ensure that this penalty makes a statement.

Nothing less than tearing up the contract.

It is true that we are going to be made an example of - the media and a cross section of the public - are clamouring for it. The question isn't if we will be made an example but how will the NRL do it.

The Bulldogs need to reduce their liability and they can only do this by coming down hard on the players involved and make sure that the code of conduct is seem to be respected and enforced.

Hopefully the Bulldogs will take this matter seriously in the future and no such breaches will occur in future.

If the rape allegations become a reality and players go to court, the NRL and Dogs won't need to put any actions against individual players, as they will be dealt with at a criminal level.

If the rape charge is dropped, but the players are found to have been involved in group sex, then i expect the NRL will fine heavily ($7-$800,000) the club, but may not pick at the individual players and rather watch over the club and see that they hand out suitable punishment (sort of a vicarious liability thing).

The club would have to punt the player if it is only an individual found to have breached the clubs C.O.C due to the magnitude of the situation (ie potential loss of sponsors etc). But if a group of players are involved, then it will be more difficult as they will probably all stick together and not come clean on who the instigator was.

Either way, tough decisions have to be made by all and sundry, and whether the dogs managment like it or not, they will have to be made an example of again so that severe penalties are handed down do deter such behaviour by all NRL players in the future.

You made this comment approx 1:32pm today and yet no one has responded to it!

Thats a disgraceful comment comming from a sexist peebrain like you and typical of the rest the supporters who feel obliged not to comment on it. If you'd turned around and said the Dogs should be kicked out of the comp no matter what all you dog supporters would be screaming the house down. Saying, thats too harsh and their innocent till proven guilty. But it's all very for this bloke to turn around and tell you lot to take what this girl said with a grain of salt. When the facts haven't been released. yet.

your a tool.

One of us should have edited the speculation from this post earlier. I've done that now.

Your point is noted, but don't assume that other supporters felt obliged NOT to comment on this post. We could have been more proactive, rather than ignore it though.

55 years in gaol if found guilty.

If found guilty of rape, yes. It's about just breaching the club's code of conduct though.

Oh ok. In that case, they should be fined and placed under chaperone.
