The SW Warriors consolidated themselves at the top of the Premier Division table with a convincing 42-14 win over the North Beach Sea Eagles for their first home game of the year on a glorious Autumn afternoon in Bubury.
The Warriors came out of the blocks quickly to go to an early 10-0 lead, however handling errors twice gave North Beach good field position to
level the scores 10-10. The Warriors then hit back late in the half to go to the sheds 14-10 up.
Disappointed with their ball handling in the first half the Warriors came out firing in the second half & raced to a 32-10 lead with 20 minutes still remaining. Another unforced error once again in the Warriors half gave North Beach another good opportunity where they finally went over out wide. However the Warriors weren't finished & scored two more tries to seal a very good win in front of an appreciative crowd.
The Warriors captain Matty Goodson had an outstanding game at front row, making great yards on almost every touch. He is currently trialling for the WA State team which will be a great reward for the Warriors, in particular Matty himself should he make it considering he is not playing in the top grade.
Next week the Warriors are up against the Rockingham Sharks which is sure to be their biggest test of the season to date.
Early games were won both by North Beach. The Sea Eagles came from 22-6 down at half time to win in the dying moments 30-26 in the under 18's. A disappointing end for the young guys as they were very dominate in the first half. The ladies tag went down 22-8 with a couple of really good individual late tries to the Warriors.
Tomorrow will see six junior teams take to the field at home in virtually all grades. Another oustanding effort to get so many teams up & running in only the club's second season! Congrats to all those involved.

Beach beat us 28 -22 here in Kalgoorlie. Scrappy game but a respectable scoreline. Video will appear soon on the Titans official YouTube channel.

Great result Swamp.
It was a great result to top off a great day. The Warriors do have a big advantage when playing at home because clubs have to split their squads to go to both Kal & Bunbury. If it is one of the top teams they can't really afford to not take a decent team in case of a shock loss however the likes of Willagee may stack their reserve side for a more likely win. North Beach were apparently missing five guys to their first squad. Anyhow we'll take the win with good momentum going into next week's tough game against Rockingham.

How's the jnr numbers going down in the SW?
As I wrote in the original post PR, there are approx 6 junior teams, games ran from 10am-3pm on Sunday. I couldn't make it but apparently heaps of parents have been down with kids running everywhere. Should the Reds get in & the Warriors step up to 1st grade next year the place could become a RL hotbed in years to come!

The Warriors tasted their first defeat for the season going down 22-12 on the weekend. In what described as their worst performance of the year the scoreline doesn't seem too bad considering. Hopefully the boys can put the defeat behind them & bounce back against South Perth at home.

The Warriors bounceed back from last weeks defeat with an exciting 30-26 victory over South Perth to go 4 from 5 for the season thus far. Still a long way to go but at least there is a good platform considering injuries & work committments are inevitable.
THe women's tag had their ever win with a comprehensive 14-2 victory. This has been a really deserved win after such good efforts each & every week.

It seems that the Fremantle Roostrers are the front runners in the Premier Grade after downing the Warriors 26-22 today & 22-10 winners over the Rockingham Sharks last week. What was pleasing to see though was the way the Warriors came back in the second half after being 18-0 down at half time.

After last weekend's 26-22 defeat to leaders Femantle the Warriors bounced back for a 48-6 win over the hapless Willagee Bears. While it was a game the Warriors expected to win it was pleasing to see the result considering there were a number of players out due to injury or work commitments. This win should consolidate themselves in the top half of the ladder. Go the Warriors!

Poor Willagee seem unable to put a decent team together. They need an overhaul me thinks. Good to see the Warriors going well.

The Warriors had a hard 38-24 win over the Bulldogs in Bunbury. Again they played well in patches but need to keep up the intensity against the top teams.

What a day for the boys from the SW, they really turned up to play today with a comprehensive win over the leaders Rockingham Sharks. Finally the boys followed the game plan from the start & with great backing up by the backs some great tries were scored.
The Warriors dropped the ball from the very first kick off which put the Sharks in great field position. They were however denied any scoring opportunities. For the next 15 minutes the Warriors took control of the game with three quick tries & really put some doubt in their oppositions mind. The Warriors had never beaten the Sharks up to this point. They then went in at half time 24-4 up.
There was some bruising defence from both teams however the Sharks seemed to loose their heads a little & gave away too many penalties which eventually resulted in more points.
The second half proved just as fruitful for the Warriors putting on a further 3 tries in quick succession. A few late penalties back to Sharks gave the field position where they scored two late tries. Final score 58-14 to the Warriors!
The women's had a good 16-12 win for only their second of the season which they were very chuffed about. The under 18's had a heavy defeat against the Sharks but are still turning up although perhaps not in the best conditions at times.
All in all another great day of Rugby League @ the Bunbury Runners Club.

Brilliant result Swamp and well done to all the club down there.

Was behind a car the other day with a SW Warriors sticker on the back, from little acorns mighty oaks seem to be growing in the SW!

Another prime reason to get the Reds back in quick smart. The SW is a hotbed of talent & should the game get the exposure it deserves re: from the Reds, this talent will eventually end up in RL.
Its the world wide story about young guys prefering to play RL but there is little money in the game to entice them across from say RU & in some cases down here AFL. And this is not about paying the players it's about a successful club that can attract players & provide them with at least the basic necessities to stay on the park etc.

Yeh if the NRL/ARL actually had a decent expansion strategy like the AFL has had in NSw and Q'land the WARL would be getting $millions a year to develop the jnr and amateur game. Even if we get expansion you can bet that there will be little extra money given to WA to grow the game.
