Why is dragons sharks on at 6? How f**king stupid do you need to be.....
Agreed, any game that time is shit. But what do you do about it? The nrl has made a call, f**k the live game, all our coin is going to be from tv. Like DiegoNT said, nrl needs to heavily subsidise tickets in the dodgy time slots. 5-10 dollar admission should get bums on seats. Saying that, the clubs need to do their part too, as it affects their bottom line.

I know there has to be a 6pm Friday game but derbies shouldn't be in that.
Souths easts, dragons sharks, para dogs etc.

The real problem is there are too many teams in Sydney, they need to move some out. Also there are too many games, most fans can't afford to go to all their teams games so they have to pick and choose

Live sport on tv is where we are in 2017. That is what people pay subscription fees for. You can't put that genie back in the bottle and have media blackouts and delayed telecasts to encourage live attendance. You'll be hitting the game right in the hip pocket because the sale of media rights is such a huge component of the game's overall income.

That fat turd Shane Richardson was a massive advocate for clubs using the big stadiums and killing off the suburban grounds.

It was part of his blueprint when his fat carcass graced the halls of NRL headquarters. I am certain he actually said he did not care that the games were played in empty stadiums.

Clubs take their games to ANZ etc because they get paid a lot of money to do so, and you can hardly blame them.

Manly have tried for years to get funding to upgrade Brookie, but never get the required assistance. Then everyone whinges the ground is shit and games should not be played there.

The NRL's agenda is very clearly to push clubs out of the suburbs and into the vast metal coffins.

Strike number 278 on Greenjizz's watch.

The "they did it in the AFL and look at their crowds" excuse gets trotted out, but the Sydney RL scene is different from the Melbourne AFL scene.

Bar Geelong, the rest of the Victorian AFL teams had their spiritual homes in the suburbs of Melbourne. There is the Melbourne CBD and then there are the suburbs- that's it. So it makes more sense for the fans to head into the city and watch their team play at a ground a mere 10 minute bike-ride from their teams' traditional base.

The NRL, even in Sydney, has traditionally been a more regional, community-based game. Sydney is more spread out. Aside from big matches that traditionally pull a premium crowd and TV figures (Souths v Easts, Parra v Canterbury, Canterbury v St George, St George v Souths), it doesn't make sense to have games against teams like the Knights or Titans, or out-of-towners with a traditionally low away supporter base like the Cowboys, at these big stadiums.

I'd suggest the following, as a start:

1. A more affordable, flat ticket price across the grounds in Sydney, with a special food/ beverage deal for pre-booking tickets

2. Reserving the SFS/ ANZ for finals for the traditional rivalries, with the traditional home grounds (Brookvale, Redfern, Belmore, Kogarah, Leichardt etc) being used for the rest of the home games.

To generate interest in the game you need people talking about it. Surburban grounds with uniqueness and atmosphere is a step in that direction.

Suburban grounds avg around 12k crowds and have poor corporate facilities. Good luck keeping up with the broncos, storms etc of the nrl playing in such grounds lol.

Redfern is gone and it's never coming back.

Such rubbish, it's worked in Melbourne because it is easier to get around, sometimes, and because the clubs have become city wide appealing. Carlton has a population of 13k and an avg attendance of 35,000! Not to mention afl is just far more popular in Melbourne than nrl is in Sydney.

Call me Malcolm Turnball, but ffs there are a heap of league fans with more than two sticks to rub together. We haven't got every povo derro following our game and none following the other codes. The price is comparable.... perhaps they should offer cheaper prices for kids, especially at the bigger stadiuns, other than that

You can get a Souths membership, that works out about $10 a game, price isn't the issue for the committed fan but pay on the day probably is for the casual one.

Same as everything these days... buy in bulk and it's cheaper. If you go to one game, pay the price and stfu.
