Five Dragons named in rep sides

www.leagueunlimited.com and SOTV

St George Illawarra team mates Lance Thompson, Mark Gasnier and Mark Riddell have been named in the City team for next Friday's City vs Country Origin clash at Gosford. Matt Cooper and Brent Kite have been named in the Country side with Kite on the bench.

Lance Thompson has previously played in the annual fixture when he captained the City side in 2001. He also played for City in 2003. Mark Gasnier represented City in 2001 before going on to play a Test match in the same year. The call up is a first for Mark Riddell who has never played representative football.

Matt Cooper will be representing Country for the second time after playing in 2003. Brent Kite's previous representative honours include Australian Schoolboys in 1998 and World Cup for Tonga in 2000.

Dragons pair Jason Ryles and Trent Barrett were not considered for selection because they are likely starters to play for NSW when the State of Origin series kicks off on May 26.

yeah congratulations to the boys for grabbing so many spots. I thought Patten was lucky to keep his fullback spot but Hornby is only just getting recognition he deserves so his time will come.

So we have:

Gasnier, Cooper, Barrett, Bailey, Ryles, Riddell, Kite, Thommo, Timmins, Blacklock....... all as having represented.

And Hornby was unlucky.

Its almost embarrassing......

I remember when Kite was wrapped as "The next Rod Reddy" & played like shit for the next three seasons. I think his potential is starting to show this year.

He was immense during the Scum game & has played well all year - I'm stoked for him to get a Rep jumper, I never thought I'd see it...

Cheers,
Ben S.
