Why would any All Black want to leave the prestige and world exposure of being one to go and play a game where they cant even play in the so-called pinnacle of the game? Even $BW wishes he had never made the handshake a few years back to go back to the NRL. Stupid article. Stupid Idea

Keiren Jack would be f**king slaughtered. His first NRL game will be his last game in any sport.

IIRC, Gary was once interviewed on the Sunday Footy Show and said one of the reasons Keiran chose flogball over RL was that he simply wasn't built for the game.

What value would he be? He's anonymous in Sydney and it's not like anyone is going to turn up to watch him and play. About the only two players with a genuinely massive profile that I can remember from the Swans are Tony Lockett and Barry Hall. None of the current players come close to those two in terms of recognition.

Well a big fish in NSW/QLD is in twice as big an ocean as an AB's fish in the little backwater pond of NZ.

The exposure of an NRL player in Oz is pretty big. Unions world wide pond is bigger than leagues, granted, but it ain't actually THAT much bigger. Not compared to say soccer, cricket or basketball. Union is fantastic at talking itself up, specially in NZ.

Why did heaps of rugby players come across in the amateur days?

Doogie your point about SOO is well made. SOO marketing is better than unions. It is NOT the pinnacle of the game. I'd say that is a NZ v Oz test match.

Quade Cooper couldn't tackle his way out a wet paper bag. The Eels dodged a bullet with that one.

Not that we were ever a chance, just a pawn in his contract negotiations.

Stupid article. We don't need to waste big money on untested union players or a publicity stunt AwFuL convert who has no hope of making the transition.
Our problem wasn't talented players, we produce them by the truckload. Our problem was the merkin codes stealing them because we couldn't afford them. Not a problem anymore.

Lol at you trying to spin that. It's known that SBW is trying to save face amongst the Rugby ranks by putting forward the idea he's an honourable human being who is seeing through a handshake agreement because he's just a decent guy.

You have to be the blindest of blind Kiwis to think SBW isn't keen to get back in the NRL.

Lmfao, SBW coming back to the NRL, he doesn't really want to guys, it's just he shook hands with some merkin and he's loyal like that, cuzzy.

How can it be bullshit when it's coming straight from the mouth of the horse bud?

The issue is not that $BW has said this. It is the fact, that it clearly means NOTHING. He has no track record of giving a stuff about written contracts let alone a 'hand shake' which would hold little credibility. SBW said this because he (maybe intelligently) wants to keep the NZRU and NZ fans on side. The second he started to come over to RL though, he started talk of poaching RU Players such as cooper.

A number of All Blacks have expressed interest in the NRL. Given the right money and opportunity you will see some come over. It is probably the only area of players that might be worth targeting. (esp given a second NZ NRL team)
