With virtually an unchanged line-up, this will be a game of halves.

The Birdman is half a chance of a return, Michaels is on the cusp of playing a half-decent game, Myles will amass half the number of tackles of the entire Melbourne team, we have nearly won half our games and we still have half the width of the skin on our little toe in the door to the finals.

We head to Melbourne with high hopes of coming back again ... whether it is with the points or not will be decided by, if you believe the press, the refs. I am not so cynical. I think it will depend on the rub of the green. Now, now ... that's doesn't mean the greasing of palms, although our precarious financial position probably puts us at a disadvantage in that area.

No, imho, it will be a game of halves. Half of me says we can hold their big three. Why do they call them the "big" three when Smith. Cronk and Slater are the smallest blokes in their team? Is it their ego's, their pay-cheques or is it something that is only apparent in the showers? While the other half of me says we can drop one more and with that "rub of the green" we may yet sneak into the eight. Either way, avoiding the woodenware would be a satisfactory outcome this year.
