With this new deal not including expansion then what's going to happen to the Central Coast as they have a canny stadium but no team...or and what about Perth.

How much have you had to drink? You've just made like 3 shit threads.

No I haven't but just want to know
1. will a Rugby League team make Bluetounge there home.
2. the billion dollar deal should be about the club's and fan's and not hype up the star's so quickly who be licking there already enriched lip's and more money.
3.Love to see a American Football game where they can stay on the field like the rest of the other Football codes till the final whistle and it did happen until 1965 (but not an expert).

The tv deal is for 8 games. There's nothing stopping the ARL expanding the NRL in the next couple of years though.

As others have said, it just means expansion won't be driven by the tv execs saying where they want a team and will instead be driven by where the ARL thinks the best new markets are.

What would you rather:

Gyngell dictating new NRL licenses to the Elias/Sage Perth bid and the Brisbane Bombers bid and a rush to sign players for next year.
-or-
The ARL to come out and say "We want West Coast and Western Corridor in 2015 and then Central Coast Bears & Adelaide in 2022."

The Central Coast Bears bid is moving ahead with the bid and bringing in new initiatives and engagements in the community to further cement a presence. This is merely another hurdle in this race, each bid will have to self assess themselves and make a decision if they want to continue or not with their respected bids. Central Coast is a great league area, it has all the infrastructure in place and a great community vibe towards the code. It will be a successful club when/if they are granted a license.

Is there any money being given out a Sydney club or 2 want to move to the Central Coast and Perth then.

No point in a team moving to the Central Coast as the Bears have exclusive playing rights for Bluetongue stadium for another decade and it'll be money going straight into their coffers. Might as well save money as a whole and let the Bears play out of the stadium they helped fund, in the area theyve invested in.

Privately, this bid team would have to be extremely nervous. And from what I'm led to believe would be ruing that fact that Gallop (who was their biggest ally at admin level) is no longer involved in the game. If the ARLC and the T.V networks see no value in a 9th game, even in a new time-slot and capital city, then you can only imagine that they think that the CC offers bugger all value. Perhaps Singos idea about the Knights playing out of Bluetongue for half their home games might have more legs?

Florimo is going to ride the horse into the ground, because thats how he earns his coin, but there has to be people involved thinking: "At what point do we put this on the shelf?".

That's assuming that there are only two options - admission of an expansion team called the Bears or giving up. But there's an active market for existing licenses and the going rate is between $3m (Crowe and PHaC purchase of Souths) and $10m (Tinkler purchase of Newcastle). If the bid really want a license to base at Gosford then they're still welcome to go to the open market and buy one. Of course if they want to rebrand it as the Bears then I'm sure they'll have to pay a premium well over the going rate.

True QB, but do the bid team at CC have that sort of coin? And; now that the clubs are rubbing their hands together at the prospect of the extra cash grant, who is realistically going to sell their licence?

Privately? You don't know what is happening behind the scene's. The money is there and so is the backing.

That's one hell of a wildcard scenario, but an interesting one...

But there is seemingly no spot... So what next? Of course the public message is "we will keep on with our strategic plan, but they've gotta be disappointed.

I think the IC need to decide shortly since they have a lot of cash what their idea of a future comp structure will look like.

I get the impression a 20 team comp is a long way off and an 18 team comp is a possibility in the next TV deal. They need to decide if they want to keep Sydney as 9 teams or are willing to expand without adding teams. They have seen how the AFL expansion has been less than successful and costing a lot of money.

Relocation is a good idea in theory as the current supporters don't lose a team like the Bears supporters have and their team will play away games in Sydney while expanding into new markets.

I think there will be a future competition of 20 teams with the Bears, Pirates and Jagera Jets (Western Corridor bid) along with all the Sydney teams in there, however for 2 or 3 of the current Sydney teams they may not be based in their current city.

Why do people keep mentioning afl expansion like it has any relevance? The equivalent would be the nrl announcing the next two expansion teams being Adelaide and Geelong!

Perth has a bigger fan base and corporate support than GWS and suns combined and the second expansion side is likely to be a heartland area.

Arlc needs a very honest and clear picture for gosford that either says there will be a team there in years to come or that it will not have a team but will host regular nrl games. At least the bears org can then plan for their future.

If the Bears buy out Singos playing rights we're in a better position than without them for negotiating with the ARLC for a license. If the worst happens and we are told never, forget it, we can then onsell the rights to the Mariners with a caveat that NRL clubs who have obstructed us be banned forever from the stadium! Just musing .... :)

Of course it's relevant. Are you really that silly?

Really?, how does the afl putting two expansion teams in areas no one is interested in them and having to plough in $40mill a year to make them sustainable have any reflection on the success or failure of two potential nrl expansion teams in areas people want them, people will support them and corporates are willing to sponsor them?

Ru's expansion with rebels and force seem to be going ok, is that relevant?
