Thanks Old Timer! It's shit when the medicine seems worse than the illness itself..oh well. I was depressed with our mob but you support your team through thick or thin. Still remember when we were thrashed 60-10 during the Mundine era. The Monday following WAS a tough day at work

HOW ARE TRIES SCORED ....
1. The Bomb, our best option atm.
2. Offload close to try line, hoping one of our forwards will have strength to do on Thurs.
3. Cheeky grubber out of dummy half close to line, or by anyone else who has smarts to do this. Widdop effective in past.
4. Deep back line moves, 20 plus out. Get decoys involved, plus inject Dugan.
5. Tackle busts through middle and offloads. No one ever supports, then again we dont have any speed to follow through anyways.
6. Intercepts, every one of our 17 will always get run down. Do not have one speedster in team.

Owe, and ofcourse Rein straight out of dummy half.

Im sure missed sum 😕.

Do we call on our fowards to also be doing more ? How many offloads have we seen, always get swallowed.

Our camp is saying higher completion rates will win us more games, im sure that was case against Cows, well that too then !!!

It seems to me, a Club needs the following things in place to be competitive in the NRL;

1. Effective and Professional Governance
Our Club is not in the hunt these days and seem to be losing the battle when copeting with rival Clubs over a wide range of issues ;- financial viability, influence within the NRL, 3rd party player sponsorship, home ground policy and player recruitment/retention/pathways.

The best way to resolve this problem is to place the Club into suitable private hands.

2. Staffing of key positions within the Club
Jobs for the boys is the best description I can think of. Areas such as the staffing of our board of management, Club administration, player recruitment and first grade coaching require a complete overhaul. We seem to have a majority of old boys who are not suitably qualified or up to the job.

The solution is to seek professional assistance when selecting the most suitable person for the job.

3. The recruitment of short term assistance
From time to time recruit staff skilled in things like marketing, sponsorship, recruiting and coaching in order to address specific problem areas being experienced by the Club.

Frankly the people currently in key positions are not up to the task and urgently need professional people to assist them in addressing the huge problems being faced by our Club. Peter M as recruitment officer was a step in the right direction. He was replaced by Millward after one year who then failed in the pursuit of buying some speedy first grade players for season 2016 and beyond. Coach Mary has consistently failed to implement sound game plans and team selections both of which are key to maximizing the Dragon’s chances of success against top competition.

Short term solution re-unite premiership winning halves Cooper Cronk and Gareth Widdop!
You could possibly move Widdop to Fullback, Dugan to the Centers and Cooper 7 Benji 6..I am sure theres points in that.

Well for sure Jackson Hastings is not the answer.

Boom youngster playing with very much better cattle at the Chooks than we have and they are 0 -5 and as much as I do not rate Pearce obviously they miss him because Hastings is not delivering.

Lots of people laughed at / derided the Sharks decision to play Bird in the 3/4's rather than half. Obviously they got it right as they are going well with a real leader in the halves creating space for their outside backs.

We need a seasoned specialist halfback who will set the attack deep and decide when is the best time to take the line on.

Cronk ticks the box on a all accounts.

Time for another Internal Review wasting members money on another American consulting firm. Worked a treat at the end of 2014. Obviously internal people are not good enough to conduct their own review.

1) No knee jerk reaction, we know we have problems, need to isolate causes

2) Player mentality indicates they don't feel they can score adequate points to outscore most teams, hence collapse once we fall 2 tries behind

3) Halves not functioning, Benji lacks fitness. Make him a bench strike player

4) McCone/Hutch/Nona/Wallace review to determine who gets a shot for at least 4-6 games

5) Rein at Hooker is best we have got, however Havili needs game time or must play for Cutters, so increase Havili game time

6) Aitken and Lafai have had limited opportunities, consider Milne.

7) PM is not a winger. Review alternatives.

8) Mid year Coaching performance review, contact Ivan Cleary to see whether he is interested

Not from a saints supporter, but more a fan of the game in general and an analyst with a few companies. This is the solution for the dragons = Bad Press. They will turn the corner this week or next, they have IMO the best forward pack in the comp(on par with two others), the best depth in the comp, and their backs are outstanding, trust me they will be winning more than they lose this year, it will all come together very soon, and once they do they will be beating most teams.

No changes for the Broncos I am praying for a win or at.the very least 100% improvement
If we played like last week Mary has to make changes by promoting some of our younger players
If we lose again this week the season is almost shot if so blood the generation now

Look I agree, the players themselves are good enough for a comfortable Top 8 finish.
But a top shelf forward pack means nothing if the backs are being told to take all the hit ups in our own half.
A powerful, skills backline means nothing if 4 tackles in attacking sets are taken by forwards running 1 out.
Good depth means nothing if the coach isn't sure how to utilise his bench or reserve players.

Whether they win or lose more games will depend on the coach.

f**k we are bad if we have a titans fan in here trying to perk us up....

+ 100 to that

Mary's video on team selection was interesting. He did make 1 good point in that we play all our "travelling" games in the first 8 rounds. Maybe that is a good thing!!

Agree with all of the above, ATM i believe Widdop is the problem, he is has been just about their worst all year, his kicking game is deplorable, his first steps are sideways, and he is not utilising reins scampers out of Dummy half to advantage, but it will come because a player like widdop, won't, can't stay in such form for too long. Also as good a dummy half rein is, they need to get more time into the other bloke off the bench, he is an absolute gun out of dummy half too, not sure how they work that but he is a real good player. The coach will have to have his head down over the next couple of weeks but its coming i know that .

Rein is half the problem. His 1st thought when he gets to dummy half is to run. Never just pass the ball. For every good scamper he makes, he makes 3 poor ones usually on the 4th or 5th tackle. His passing, which has always been an issue, is part of the reason we run 1 out. He cannot pass long in either direction and his short passing is either forward or behind the running player. Add to that, he can never just pass from the ground, he alwys has to jump up and engage the markers because as always, his 1st thought is to run. That leaves the running players receiving the ball with the defence already in their faces and 1 out.

As for Widdop, yes he needs to play more direct. His kicking last time out was average at best but was exceptional in the 2 wins.

Rein has become far too predictable when he's dummy half and close to the line. The opposition are onto him like a seagull onto a hot chip.
