Fancy @Get Rid of The Donkeys saying that without pokies and property development the Raiders would be nothing, all the while saying Easts are the best option.

Without Pokies, Easts would be less then zero, a historical artefact only.
Same's true of basically every major RL club in the Southern Hemisphere.

There isn't a single NRL, NSW Cup, or Qld Cup side that's sustainable off their football operations alone.

Souths, Warriors, Broncos, Storm. Hard to say with the others now, they are less and less reliant on LC funds as grants have gone up. Most spend above their FC revenue means becasue they know the mugs playing the pokies will pick up the overspend. I suspect without any LC funding most would pull in spending by a mill or two and be fine.

Even the weakest clubs will be pulling in around $30mill of Fc and grant funding this season, with a $12mill cap, $5mill FC cap and a couple of mill on pathways/NRLW etc spending that still leaves a min $11mil a year to run the rest of the club.

He was including other sources of income than just LC grants though, and with the debatable exception of the Broncos all of those clubs are reliant on income streams unrelated to their football operations to maintain their businesses in some form or another. The Broncos would have to tighten their belts significantly if they were operating on their FC revenue alone as well.

A lot of clubs would seriously struggle if the grant was ever to be dropped to a rational percentage of NRL expenditure.

Seriously where exactly did you piss him off, was it that magic round held in Perth, musta been before he said that rusted on state line, either way he got your government searching for tourism gold, while your major unnamned businessmen scratch their arse waiting for him to hand you a magical green light of some sort
