Lucky he's got hair like a poodle to protect his noggin.

A bald man would be sitting by the window drooling.

One-Test opener Will Pucovski has made a big move in his push for a return to the Australian team by signing his first deal to play county cricket in the UK.

It comes a week after he sent shudders through the sport when he was forced to retire hurt after copping a hit to the helmet while batting for a Victorian Second XI.

Pucovski has a long history of concussion issues, having also taken a series of mental-health breaks from the game that have limited his capacity to add to the one Test he played against India in January 2021.

After the latest head knock, however, the 25-year-old batting dynamo passed a concussion test and returned to the crease, falling just short of a century.

Is next home summer a possibility for Will, or soon after?

Get through these Shield games, plus a round of Shield games start of our next summer, and the county games in between. Gets through that, could be our next opener if Khawaja retires next summer (turns 38 in Dec) or we have an injury or out of form player

I think Pucovski is going to be one of those ones that teases us all the time but wont quite get there due to issues other then cricket.

While facing Tigers fast bowler Riley Meredith at Bellerive Oval on Sunday afternoon, Pucovski ducked into a bouncer before dropping his bat and collapsing onto the turf. The 26-year-old was in severe discomfort, retching on the deck as team medics rushed onto the ground.
