Women's WC 2021

Ok, they've completely f**ked up this year's tournament, unsurprisingly, but if by some miracle the administration of the sport decides to be competent between now and 2021 they have to ensure the women's tournament is as big as possible.

From what I can gather, the countries playing or planning women's RL at the moment include:

Australia
NZ
PNG
Fiji
England
France
Italy
Lebanon
Canada

And others that are able to cobble together a team of heritage players include Samoa and Cook Islands. Surely Tonga would be the same.

Russia used to play but it's hard to know if they still do.

Others that should be targeted: USA, Jamaica, Serbia.

They need to make 2021 at least 10 teams and ensure the best countries can pay for the trip. The fact that France is not there this year and Fiji didn't get a fair chance to qualify is a disgrace. At a time when other sports are embracing women's versions because they recognise how advantageous it will be are leaving RL behind. As always. This year could have been really significant but it's another chance thrown away.

There would need to be some serious funding, seeing as they are all amateurs. It's not easy to tell you're boss you are going away for 3-6 weeks.

I think 8 teams would be a good start, since there are only 4 this year. It should not be a case of anyone who can scrape a team together gets a spot, the Aussie and Kiwi girls will slaughter them. 8 teams, then go from there.

There's six teams this year so well done.

And funding it has nothing whatsoever to do with people getting time off work from their boss.

And arbitrarily picking a number will prevent lopsided scores how?

Baby steps. Let's make sure this one is a success and then build off it.
France got themselves into trouble and will miss out.
The pacific qualifiers were a mess no doubt, but it's also the other teams fault too for packing a sad.
Cook Islands did what was asked and are rightly included.
Enough negativity. Let's start getting excited and start building anticipation for these events. It's World Cup year!!!

Why couldn't they add France and pay their way? And if they want an even number, do the same for Fiji or even Italy.

That's a lot of money for an amateur tournament.

It's a curtain raiser to the aus nz test so what mis treatment are you talking about. .thst seems a pretty prestigious time slot at an international in the nation capital. In 2008 i watched the jillaroos play new zealand at kawana on the sunshine coast. ..on field three. ..not even the main oval of a suburban footy field. Seriously..we don't have to whinge at every turn...things are moving but by some carry on you wouldn't know.
