One difference, he REGULARLY plays on the wing. I have more confidence in a true winger in the sense he plays there week in week out, compared to a fullback who hasn't played wing for quite a while in Slater!

Playing regularly in the front line is a crucial element of picking a winger/centre in origin

And I'm saying,it's ironic that you say the risk is too high yet let an error ridden winger play regardless.

Of course he'll be at Telstra and of course he'll make a number of blunders.

What errors did Tate make?

In which game? lol
He usually makes a few knock ons, fumbles the ball.
Careless errors.

Tates only real "blunder" was the kick ahead at halftime.
Hayne scored a very flukey try as a result.

I'm pretty sure he knocked on as well.
They seem like petty errors,he's done for years.

And he also pulls out the gun plays also.
Man of the match last yr game 3,
His length of the field try in 2005 vs the kiwis beating 4-5 players.

Changes? Not many unless injury or suspension plays a part.

Nate Myles has been suspended for his tackle on Wednesday night and will be back for Origin two - there may be some concern there from Mal.

Atonio Kafusi is gone - Carl Webb replaces the man that replaced him.

Brent Tate has consistently came up big at rep level, he ain't going no where.

I would like to see Billy get a go even if it means dropping Tait. Billy is in super form for Melbourne, and he has proven recently that he can defend up in the line. I would also love to see Bowen get a run, the guy is a freak but I just can't see a spot for him. The only place would be off the bench as an impact player but they are not going to drop Berrigan nor will they go with say Berrigan, Bowen and only 2 big men. And of course there are going to be changes with the forwards because of injury/suspension.
This is what I would like to see come game 2.

1. Hunt
2. Slater
3. Bell (though I'd like to see Tonga, he's close to being ready)
4. Hodges
5. Inglis
6. Lockyer
7. Thurston
8. Price
9. Smith
10. Petro
11. Carrol
12. Webb
13. Johnston

14. Berrigan
15. Carlaw
16. Lillyman
17. Costigan

Oh and BTW, "Marsh" please, the guy is a good player, but he is behind Smith, Berrigan and yes maybe even Payne.

Did you watch Tonga on Friday night? :?

He doesn't look anywhere near ready for a return to Origin.

Billy Slater will be out for some time after copping a knee from a team mate. Tate wouldn't and shouldn't be dropped.

Dane Carlaw:

Haha yeah Carlaw would've been an alright suggestion 4 weeks ago, sadly his form has begun to decline.

I'd only bring in Webb for Kafusi.
Possibly Thaiday in for Costigan or Lillymen.

the scary part is, Carlaw had his boots at Suncorp for Origin 1 and was essentially 18th man ...

personally I would put Slater in for Bell ... who is ineffective at Origin level

but they won't make any changes bar forced ones

Oink !
