Any team we pick must be able to combat the drag factor of Mitchell Pearce. But I say just leave it as is.

Pretty straightforward. 1-17 did nothing wrong, the only thing that needs looking at is whether it's worth keeping Reynolds or putting a forward in.

Everyone else earned their Blue jumper for game two, simple as that.

It is inevitable, so after a messy win against QLD, what (if any) changes would you make, and why?

I'm a big advocate of consistent line ups, but there are still a few changes that could improve our side without interrupting the progress so far.

My SOO side for game 2:

1. Hanye
2. Gordon
3. Jennings
4. Morris
5. Merritt
6. Maloney
7. Pearce
8. Gallen
9. Farah
10. Tamou
11. Bird
12. Lewis
13. Watmough
14. Grant
15. Woods
16. Merrin
17. Fifita

It's State of Origin, and you cannot have 16 against 17. We would be better off having a bench that we can actually use to its fullest.

Turd was... average. He's a good player, of course, but I think he's one of Daley's Canberra boys, and probably didn't quite earn that spot. Wingers fortunately can be chopped and changed a little. Merritt could have been safer under the high ball.

Buzz Morris was okay, not great. Could have gone with Gordon, who I believe is probably above Morris by a bit. Uate is worth a look, but has been silent this year too.

Going for mobility is fine, but a bit of grunt wouldn't have gone awry. Guys like Bird, Gallen and Watmough can really throw them off their game.

Hoffman was shit. Bellamy isn't coach anymore. Someone send Daley the memo that he doesn't need to keep picking useless storm players.

Anyway, my two cents.

Discuss.

Keep Fergo. Reality is, he can only improve. I'm not that bothered either way. Nor about Merritt. A debate about wingers
22 min to change your mind. Obviously a very poor troll or an imbecile.

Take your pick.

We've got a bunch of back rowers who can comfortably play 80 mins. I'd punt Hoffman in favour of another prop and give more minutes to the other back rowers. If I'm not mistaken there were times where NSW had 4 back rowers (Bird, Watmough, Lewis and Hoffman) on the field plus Gallen up front so no specialist props in the game. Replacing Reynolds with yet another prop or even another 2nd rower would give NSW some much needed fresh legs at the back end of the game.

Don't touch it at all. There's obviously some shit players in this side, but the make up of the side is working at the moment so why touch it?

So drop a guy because the coach didn't end up needing him to come on for that particular game?

Pretty harsh on the guy...

Hoffman on the left didn't look as good as Lewis on the right. The drop off Cam Smith didn't look good either.

But punting him and bringing in another prop changes the dynamic in the middle.

It means shifting Bird left and altering the mobile middle third rotation of which Bird is an integral part and worked very well last night.

With the exception of Tamou who I thought played very flat and slowed the play down rather than bending the line (although he was solid as a rock in defence), the balance of the middle rotation with Gallen - Watmough - Merrin & Fifita gave the QLD forwards a heap of problems with their footwork in attack and quick shutdown of the ball carrier in defence. Slater was lurking constantly and the NSW forwards denied the offloads.

All the interchanges last night were amongst these 6 players with Lewis & Hoffman playing full 80 mins from memory. The reason NSW were so much better last night than in Sticky's years was because Daley rotated the middle constantly. Kept them fresh. 80 min players or not, this is imperative when forwards play in the middle.

Hoffman and his combinations with Maloney and Jennings will be better for this 1st up game. He's been out of the side for a couple of years and his game and his effectiveness is very much dependent on familiarity of combinations and repetition. Just like the Lockyer-Thaiday-Hodges & Thurston-Harrison-Inglis of QLD teams past. A bit hasty calling for his head. Typical NSW fans though.

Furthermore, replacing Reynolds with a Grant or Woods puts in an extra body into the middle rotation. Sounds a winner with having 7 blokes rotating in and out of there but it will also reduce the game time of all of those blokes. Once again, the dynamic changes from what NSW had last night.

Hannant will come back though. Up to Daley to decide if he thinks the same tactics will be a winner in Game 2. Personally, I reckon a subtle change has to be made to keep the toads honest and expecting something new. Nothing major, just a small change that keeps the game plan fresh.

If Farah's injured do you bring in Ennis, Hinchcliffe or Rein? Although Ennis has embarrassed himself repeatedly at origin level I'd still be inclined to pick him as Farah's replacement because of his experience at that level and his crisp service out of dummy half. In fact, I think he throws a smoother pass than Farah, although he's inferior to Farah in every other respect. As long as he's given strict instructions not to kick, try anything fancy or punch on, I think he could be effective. The halves are competent enough to orchestrate the attack without Ennis overplaying his hand.

I read this morning that Farah's only going to miss 2 weeks?

nope it was a poor pick on the interchange bench. same stupid selection as picking DCE on the bench by sheens.

if qld ahd somehow won last night daley would be copping it because he wasted a spot. because they got through well the use of only 16 players gets overlooked.

You haven't watched the Dragons this year if you're even mentioning Rein as a possible selection. Mitch has been terrible. It will be between Ennis and Hinchcliffe. I'd go with the latter, but the selectors would no doubt go with the former.
