Jnr system

Ok first of all people are crying about when they loose a JNR before they play first grade.

So here goes - A player under the Age of 21 or 20 first grade games is capped at a certain salary (SO if he is 20yld but played 21 games the rules don't apply)-Lets say the rate is 120K MAX.-. That way atleast your club gets too see how they perform in the top grade without paying overs and having to make a decision on if they want to make a decent offer and keep them around without having them poached prior.
The NFL and NBA do sort of the same thing. Restrictions when a guy is out of college what he is paid.

Also you bring in a draft. Just like the AFL. Except it applies for players only after the age of 22 who have yet to play 12 first grade games. Obviously the team who finishes last gets first pick.

Well everyone-Start shitting in your brown paper bags:D

being wooden spooners we would still lose the juniors.

if a player is restricted by what he can earn he is going to go to a side that will improve his chances for further honours (and boost to his wage).
He will also be able to better show off his wares for when his pay restricyion ends.

Not a bad idea, I think.

Thanks ME.
And example is that young hooker the sharks lost to the dogs. Part of there coaching may of wanted to see how he handles first grade before they decide if he is ready to be there fulltime. The sharks have nurtured him thru the grades and just as he is almost ready he gets poached. You cant blame them for not matching the Dogs offer. Is a big risk. Yet the time they have spent and wasted on the kid has been stolen from the DOGS

Ok yes I see what you mean. This is the best idea I have read on this forum since I can remember. Well done.

I hate myself a little almost every time I open one of these threads.

I'm sure there won't be any legal implications if a player's earning potential is restricted.

They do the same thing in NFL and NBA . I guess it is up to them if they think earning 150K till age 21 is too low they can always get an apprenticeship and work for 15k.

What - are my threads that bad? Yet that tempting.I don't get it.Am I like a hot body walkn down the street where you can see a sneakie peak of breasts from the side-You cant help but look as your old boy wakes up ready for duties - Well untill they turn around and you realize there over 50yld with bolt ons and way to much make up. Part of you is disgusted while the other part thinks id still go that after a few beers.

kinda. Rookie salaries are based on draft positioning in those leagues. Given the short nature of these buffoons' careers that could end unexpectedly I can't see the nrl being able to enforce a ceiling on rookie salaries.

no. salary caps don't restrict so much an individual's earning capacity relative to market worth, just how much a team can spend on however many players combined.

Still a restriction. I mean there is a min wage. So times that by 24 and that's your restriction on the top paid player no 25 of your squad :)

true but in the case of a cap a player's value will be affected by their market worth. Only a team run by idiots would pay 24 guys min salary and the rest of the cap on one player because they would be an extremely shit team made up of one gun and 24 numpties, and it would affect other parts of the club's operations than just on field (and they would probably go belly up).
