Benji Marshall is set to return to the NRL after he and Blues coach John Kirwan agreed his switch to rugby union was not working out, the Blues have confirmed.

Marshall made the decision to seek an immediate return to the NRL following a meeting with Blues coach Sir John Kirwan this weekend.

In a statement made this evening, the Blues and New Zealand Rugby confirmed they have received a request from Marshall to be released early from his contract.

"All parties are currently in discussions regarding this request and need to work through a formal process before making any further comment."

Marshall's manager, Martin Tauber, has been instructed to open talks with NRL clubs. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11241807

So if 29 or 30, he should still have something to offer.

Just not sure that him & Carney will be much different.

No way could you have those 2 players in the halves - they wouldn't complement each other. Robson needs to stay @ 1/2 in my opinion.

I am also hearing through a non-shark related source that the deal wit h the Sharks was done just after feefs defected.
So from what im hearing, Benji will be a Shark & will be this year.

for what its worth. NZ herald via the telegraph. all other clubs saying "NO" when the question was put to them.

Besides his old mates at the sharks he would know how Noyce operates would he not?

negative comments from Warrior "greats"

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11241910

The outside chance of a move to the Warriors seems unlikely as Warriors legends Monty Betham and Awen Guttenbeil last night warned the club off Benji Marshall.

"I think that would be the biggest mistake in the club's history," said Guttenbeil, who played 170 matches for the club between 1996 and 2006.

"Benji Marshall is a brand in himself and I don't think the Warriors need that in their environment."

Betham said Marshall's form had already faded "hugely" in his last couple of years in the NRL.

"The thing that hasn't faded is the money he is on. That seems to be quite substantial."

It's Benji Marshall FFS

Most of his best mates are at our joint.

In a heart beat....and if other players are feeling a bit upset then they can play their arse off to stay in the team.
