OK, that makes sense, but you didn't mention 2012 in your reply ( sent 10:58 last night ). You were very close listing it as Round 4 or 5, Morris replaced Stanley as fullback in Round 3.

Pretty close to the money . Round 4 or 5. Round 3...

Understand how you assumed I meant this year.

Yeah, 4 year deal being mentioned. It just shows the gulf between well run clubs like the Roosters, Rabbitohs & Bulldogs to the Dragons who are an absolute mess.

The successful ones continually maintain a high quality roster by retaining the bulk of their current players & also plan ahead by signing a mixture of high & low profile players. They do this as necessary when some players retire, move to another club or just to strengthen in certain areas for the future ( eg - Hastings at the Roosters )

Roosters won a wooden spoon only 5 years ago so hardly the cream of the crop.

good point, now that I also look back at Roosters in 2011 (11th) & 2012 (13th) Rabbitohs didn't turn the corner until 2012, Bulldogs also missed the top 8 in 2010 & 2011

Sorry about that - all OT anyway, just a frustrated Dragons fan who is resigned to missing the top 8 for a 4th & possibly 5th straight year

Roosters will struggle to keep alot of players end of 2015 and 2016 when they have a lot of talent coming off contract who have won a premiership since signing their last contract.

Beau Henry returning to Dragons - mentioned by The Lurker

Think he has signed with Helensburgh in the Illawarra cup, whether he goes back to the Dragons or not is a different story.
Good kid, world of potential, but something just didnt/hasn't clicked for him.
Still plenty of time left though.

Injuries and Wayne Bennett not rating him have messed his career around a fair bit.

Bennett told him to leave the Dragons and to the poor kid's bad luck Bennett signed for the Knights about a month after he made his FG debut and told him to move on again...then he copped a bad broken ankle once at the Tits if I recall.

Josh Hoffman to Bulldogs ( ok, not new - but stops speculation about other teams apparently who are interested )

Corey Thompson to Panthers ( apparently Dave Simmons retiring )

Source? Just signed a new one year deal so if the Panthers offered him a multi year deal I wouldn't mind the club letting him take it. Will leave us slightly skinny on back 3 players though unless we sign B Morris. Will have Hoffman, Perrett, Rona, Loko and Stanley as the only real options and two of them are the most injury prone players I have ever seen

Thompson should be Dogs fullback next season, its where he's played all his football up until making grade, and he's better than Hoffman.

Penrith have enough outside backs anyway, Simmons ended up in the NSW Cup second row.

We are losing Naiqamax2, Nabuli and Blake and DWZ are likely to spend a lot of time in first grade so we could use him.

I don't see Simmons retiring. May as well play out the remaining one year of his two year contract even if he is most likely to spend it in NSW and be depth cover only. I would be surprised if there is any truth to the Corey Thompson rumour. Panthers surely only in market for a couple of forwards.

I can see our interest in Corey Thompson
Can't see his interest in us.

Moylan, Mansour, Whare, Idris and DWZ are pretty much our certain backline aside from injury. The only change that is likely to happen is Idris to second row and Waqa Blake into the centres. Not much chance of a guy pushing his way into our back 3.

he would just be like Kevin Naiqama was this year.
